The funniest thing about Bush v. Gore is that each side wanted a different standard for recounting votes in Florida. After it was all over, it was shown that Gore's method actually favored Bush, while Bush's method favored Gore. They each spent millions on lawyers pushing for something that helped the other!

@@subeverything8282 Gore/Dems wanted recounts in only democrat heavy counties, and Bush/Republicans wanted a statewide recount. Gore got his wish, failed, then tried to get another recount but state wide at this point, except endless recounts are against the law. That's to the best of my knowledge. Lol. It's been 22 years.

Even at the time, I didn't understand why the media wasn't talking about the fact that the Secretary of State of FL was also Bush's FL campaign manager. Every choice she made, and in every interview, was to fight vigorously for her candidate. We aren't set up to deal with that kind of conflict of interest, but clearly she should have recused herself. But then, his brother was the Governor so I'm not sure if that'd helped even the playing field.

Also the Democrats and Republicans like to trade back and forth every 4-8 years. 16 years of one party is bad for business and could lead to momentum for a 3rd party which they will kill people to stop that if necessary.

This time we have sh*tty software Dominion and "Hammer and Scorecard program" used in over 300 counties in 28 states that gave 32% of the votes from one candidate to another on one county. Oh it was human error you say? Even worse.

Americans do care but don’t show 30 seconds of Tiktok videos and call it evidence. Plus it doesn’t help that Trump was Telegraphing all Summer long that if he lost it would be due to voter fraud. It looks too much like he wants to undermine the people’s vote and steal it by litigation or by Supreme Court that he hand picked. That reeks of Authoritarian behavior. @@jacobmartincontreras when you get to the courts you have to have prove it. No proof, no legal decision and it will be dismissed. Several of trumps lawsuits have made it into the courts only to be tossed out because they have no proof of election fraud.

It's no coincidence that the Democrats wanted recounts in only heavily democratic counties. The Democrats took it to the SC and lost, stopping all recounts. 🤷♂️ They tried to change deadlines and election laws after the election. They tried to get questionable ballots counted. They tried everything under the sun to FIND enough votes. That election was SO close, and became a total mess. At the end of the day... GORE LOST. And to say anything other than that is a lie.

The issues that they will bring to the court are different now… So it is not the same situation but it is similar. . We really do need a new nationwide system though because it’s odd how every time they counted Bush/Gore count was different.

@@mitchellmaytorena1137 2000 wasn't plagued by half-a-dozen plus methods of fraud being theorized on, debunked, rebunked, contested and forgotten about by the hour. Also accepting votes after the Constitutional deadline (8AM, Nov 4) that was initially agreed to in PA before they decided to right a law in the state to try and overwrite the Federal judgement. That's probably going to be more substantial than any case of fraud or glitches, TBH. We'll see what happens. I suppose it doesn't affect me too much as a Canadian, but it is fascinating to say the least.

2020 and 2000 are Apples and Oranges. There’s a HUGE difference between 900/500 votes and over 50,000/10,000. (At current count) Recounts will not change anything. Even in 2000, Bush won Florida by 900 votes, then STILL won by 500 votes. You only need to win by 1 vote to win.

Pretty hilarious how a badly designed ballot was what pretty much cost Gore the state of Florida, thus the general election, which caused many of his supporters to mistakenly vote for Pat Buchanan instead. Even the Bush camp didn't want to admit this when they falsely claimed Palm Beach County was a Buchanan stronghold, which was in no way the case at all. Even Buchanan himself admitted this after looking at the ballot, while also doing very little to no advertising in the area as well. But I guess things did even out in a way when the networks prematurely called Florida for Gore. That of which caused a lot of would be Bush voters who were still waiting in line to vote for him to turn away when this leaked out, thus reducing his eventual very slim margin of victory.
