@@LeoniloCatelo-ee2mhHong Kong is downfall.South Korea is not a South East Asian country.i doubt Thailand could grow to a powerhouse in South East Asia since this country’s demographic is downfall and it’s not developing enough.Taiwan and Singapore are developed countries already.he said future. But both of Taiwan and Singapore are powerful enough already for the sizes of them.Indonesia could be the most powerful country in the South East Asia for sure since it is the largest country in the region also it has richest resources and great geography in this region.Indonesia is also one of the fastest developing country in the earth. I believe it will accomplish its aim in the future.Philippines and Vietnam probably could also be the powerhouses of SEA since they have more than 100 million population and their economy is also growing fast .But I could confirm they are lack of influence in the region compare Indonesia even if the future.

But then Philippines won't grow faster why? Because Philippines relying to much on foreign investment wouldn't benefit much for the Philippines economy it will only benefit those foreign companies itself because those companies earn more money or profits selling there product while all the Philippines could do is really just hope the countries economy would grow but in truth in order for a country to have a fast growing economy is if the government and it's people find ways to develop it why are countries like china russia US India Japan Germany France and UK became rich or powerful countries is becuase they have their own ways in developing their country with only little amount of foreign investment people in those countries work for themselves some successful people say you can't get rich by simply working for someone cuase then you're only working to make that person rich not yourself as your more like a slave to them to the point that all this foreign companies hire and provide minim wage jobs for everyone in the Philippines it's better if Philippines find ways to develop itself

The best "product" the Philippines have for "export" would be the rich Deuterium deposits found near the Philippine rise. US and Philippines can joint venture on this with each Filipino getting an annual "Stimulus" check or a Common Filipino Trust Fund can be established so each Filipino upon reaching age 50 can draw a monthly cash amount until his or her demise. It's only fair that they have a fair share of this "wealth" and the US can do the same for thier citizenry... I heard it is "Space Fuel ⛽" fit for spaceships like Tesla's Martian machinery... Filipinos can repay all foreign debts afterwards and adjust the exchange rate of the Peso $1 to P8 at least.

Do you know that many influential Philippine media and civil organizations that are always against the Philippine governance, irregardless of who is the sitting Philippine president, were already exposed after the FOI Act as recipients of periodic huge funding from the US government? I have been a strong US supporter for a long time and but I should be honest to accept the fact that it is not good for US interests in Asia Pacific if the Philippines will become a very stable country or a very progressive country. The Philippines has a strategic location and it is best for US interests in Asia Pacific region if the Philippines will always remain a bit unstable and not a very progressive country so that it will always be under the influence or dictate of the US government.

we're always been good dogs for the US of A since the artificial independence after WW2. after all, they had honed and trained the previous govt leaders and elites to always favor them in everything until D. Macapagal and PDigong came in to the picture. Kawawang Pinas at MGA Pinoy, alipin, parausan at u2-u2 pa rn para sa exchange rate. Walang mabuting vision halos lahat ng mga leaders natin para sa bayan at mga Pinoy.

The US govt not curtailing the aggressive outsourcing of manufacturing to China was a misstep. If they had invested in the Phils. instead, they wouldn't have had the security issues they have now bec. of the diff. in attitudes of the Filipinos themselves - which has never sought to compete and overcome the USA.

Philippines have lots of smart people to be able to work but, opportunities are not there. Philippines governments need to concentrate on stopping corruption from town officials all the way to province officials. They need to put all corrupt officials in jail and ban them from politics forever.

Intel should come back to the Philippines. They had it all wrong to concentrate themselves in Malaysia. Now they are spending more there than here in the Philippines. With the global trend to produce high end chips that Philippines is in a strategic area where Taiwan Company;s can relocated their chip making in the Philippines. It is much safer than being in Taiwan. Moreso, Philippines is NOT known for copying nor infringing on copyrights.

@IslandStew that was before but not this time. Heck I used to work in Intel in the 80's we were the ones sent to Penang to teach the junior engineers in Malaysia. Most of the new technologies were being produced in the Philippines. Unfortunately, the salaries in the Philippines were so high than other Intel sites that it became too expensive to operate in the Philippines.

@@bobbydejesus6822It's not the salary in the Philippines but Intel did not get their requested TAX BREAK extension from Philippine government in 2000s. Vietnam heard this and offered Intel more attractive investment perks and tax break, so Intel moved to Vietnam.

The USA should annex Philippines as unincorporated territory like Puerto Rico or a 51st US state like Hawaii cuz many Filipinos have a dream of having American passport and citizenship, studying and travelling in the USA, they can go to New York, San Francisco and other American cities without having to bring their passport at all

Nowadays, no country is self reliant. We need each other. We expand together for economic growth. But we have to be careful who we do business with. China for example is one country that we should be careful with. Very glad that investors are now leaving China and transferring to countries like Vietnam.

Filipino here, the sad thing is our government isn't doing enough. Unwelcoming constitution towards investors, the infrastructures aren't there yet. Result: Not enough jobs and Filipinos are dying to leave the country to work abroad. Not sure, but our country is cursed. Everyone seems so proud (Proud Filipino here and there) but there's nothing really to be proud of.
