Henry is pretty on point about Geralt. The Witcher games may be an RPG, but most options that we are able to dictate about Geralt is based off from the book series of who he is already. Especially in Witcher 3, since he has his memory back. The previous installments carried only essence of who he was in the past. I remember the quest regarding two old couple in an abandoned village had killed and ate a dwarf. Geralt was so pissed, but the option to spare them or killed them was available. Either choice fit his already existing persona. He could raged and kill them, a cynical perspective that Witchers do feel emotions, which fits his righteous attitude. Or he could spare them, which would result in them later getting killed by ghouls or the mob lead by the quest giver, because Geralt is wise enough to know the consequences of such action in the world, which fits his nonchalant attitude regarding human stupidity.

The show is amazing... Truly stunning. Hope it goes on for many years to come. Its a must watch for fans of the witcher... It has even inspired me to start reading the books. 5/5 performance from Henry to bring Geralt into life... The show itself is amazing.

He's the only reason I'll check out the show, clearly he respects and understands the reason the show was made in the first place. The games.

This interview made me way more hyped for the show than the trailers did.

Geralt's more introspective moments aren't really on display in the games but are such a large part of the books. I'm glad that he put the work in to trying to bring those aspects to the series instead of just going for a badass persona. Book Geralt is very different from the CDPR Geralt, so I'm interested to see how the people who have only played Witcher 3 react.

It seems to me that Cavill is a big enough fan to "see" those moments in the game, you know?

I have read some of the books and played all the games, and it seemed to me that he had a lot of introspective moments in the games. It's just that they were not so much vocalised, but rather brought across with the facial animation and his actions. Not as detailed as in the books, of course, but the thoughtful Geralt is definitely on display in the games.

@iii iii The first two, so fair enough I'm not too familiar with them. My point was that I found game Geralt to be surprisingly expressive and multifaceted, despite outwardly just seeming like another gruff action man.

He makes a great Geralt. Wasn't sure before the first season came out, but he absolutely nailed it. Expectations exceeded.

Props to Doug Cockle for nailing his portrayal of Geralt so much, that Henry took inspiration from it and is incorporating Doug's voice into his performance.

Hearing Henry talk about blending the emotional tone of the books for Geralt, while adding a literal tone from the games, and detailing how the books encapture the character in a way you have to be careful with makes me so happy. My friends and i write roleplaying stories a lot and the difference between acting and role playing is that in acting you can fib your lines and fit the emotional tone from the scene. But Role Playing is where you character is built to be this living dynamic personality that MAKES the tone of the scene. Henry understands he's not just acting as Geralt, but speaking for Geralt, and he has to understand him to do that.

*I don't know why people have a problem with his casting... I mean just give the man a beard and he will look almost exactly like the games*
@bluetaigax17474 жыл бұрын
No beard needed he looks like the art cover of the books
@strider86624 жыл бұрын
@@bluetaigax1747 Its very clear Netflix has no desire to stick with the books tbh. A mere glance at Triss and Fringilla will show you that they dont really care about those details. So giving him a beard would be awesome, he would look much nicer.

Lol. The games aren't the source material. That's how you know that they are bitching about it without knowing what they are talking about.

@@CelticAkumathefirst sorry to burst your bubble but majority of the people who know about witcher and will watch the show are because of the game...

@@shizukousapostle1stapostle710 oh, trust me. Didn't knew about the books. Actually the game sold 'em to me. (And that drives Sapkowski mad tho) If you wanna try 'em, the first titles are the last wish and sword of Destiny by Andrzej Sapkowski. Totally the best fiction I have read in the last decade.
