@jackson and ballard and his team scannend the sea bed a few times looking for it. But nothing. And a wonder if he was far away from it or even just 30 yards from it but the darkness kept it well hidden or even closer. Then he started seeing the debris from the ship and he knew he was near it, imagine just out the blue the huge long ship just coming out of the dark and we have no idea what thats like as we just see photos of it old and new. And it still looks huge in a photo, so to see it up close it would be bigger than we think. The stern at least 400 feet long and most of it about 130 feet high, thats in 1985. But now with decks collapsing it might be about 80 to 90 feet high but its still big. When i saw the huge hole where the grandstaircase was and the view jim cameron had over it and looking down it i thought my that looks a huge ship? And that was in 2001 it was amazing to see the view jim had on this huge hole and seeing alot of the decks as he went down the hole and looked around that area, its the best i have ever seen of the wreck. Jim showed how big the ship still was as that huge hole allowed him to see so much at the top down to the 3rd deck i thinck, as i thinck it was to dangerous to go down further from that height and angle. But pure amazing, the decks looked well roughed up but i thought you could still walk on them easy. But maybe not now, that was 22 years ago. Alot has changend. Some decks have collapsed as in B and C decks into each other mostly, as there so long bits havent fallen but will in years to come.

Actually the reason why they left the bottom early on their first attempt during the 86 expedition was because of a leak in the submersible Alvin's batteries Ballard pushed his luck just long enough where he could get a glimpse at the hull Ballard described the numerous portholes as sightless eyes

Came here to say this. The Alvin was having technical difficulties on the first dive of the 1986 expedition, and so they had to leave before the batteries were destroyed, which, if that happened, would have spelled the end of the expedition.

Actually Bob Ballard has no idea that the Titanic had broken in two until after he found the wreck. From all the evidence that was known at the time it was assumed that the wreck would be intact so when he went to find the debris he was expecting to find things like ripped off boat davits, ventilation cowl, etc. small debris. So he was shocked when it was realized that the Titanic was ripped into several sections and in his book he presented his own theory on how the ship broke up.

I watched an interview where he said he was struggling to find it, so he began operating under the assumption it split in two, because one survivor testified that they saw it snap in half, and with that in mind, in combination with his hunt for the nuclear subs, he decided to look fir a debris field.

Just imagine the sheer excitement and awe of finding the long lost wreck of the world's most famous ship. Must've been such a humbling and moving moment.

Would you be able to do videos on the Bismarck battleship too? I think it would be very neat. Love your videos!!

Great job on the presentation. Really informative. Also led to a great drinking game. Every time the model Titanic was brought up in the video, I took a shot

I found your channel about a week ago and have watched quite a few vids. If this KZfaq thing ever falls apart (hopefully not!), you should think about becoming a teacher. You have a way of explaining things clearly, and using repetition without being insulting or annoying, that helps people learn while enjoying the process. And passion and creativity like yours are vital characteristics of teachers.

beautiful recreation!! and amazing content!! thank you!! I always find it amazing and scary as well how we are here living in the big cities coming and going in our daily routines and somewhere far away deep in the ocean the Titanic is sitting there being a vulnerable victim of its surroundings and the passing of time until one day the last piece of this Legendary ship will disappear.. a long with us

Could you imagine how spooky it would be to be just watching your little vehicle swimming around down there and pitch black list only for an immediate wall of blackness to appear in front of you, and then to rise up alongside it. I’m surprised they didn’t jump as they were watching the feed
