FS1000A and XY-MK-5V 433MHz Arduino compatible RF modules are quite popular. Mainly because they are cheap and people think they are easy to use. OK, they are quite easy to use, but for a price (which is quite big by the way). Today, let's take a look at this RF transmitter and receiver pair and connect them to a signal generator and an oscilloscope, and find out!

Good Show. I have had a lot of fun with these little ones, loads of trials and errors. They do work, and work well also when its all figured out they are durable 8 Bit messingers. Subscribed

Well, there are better and even cheaper RF solutions. With 2 way communication and superior range. but yeah, they can be interesting to work with

Have you come across sets where the receiver did not have that green THT resistor, and the transmitter did not have this little coil? I had such a pair and I was wondering why it does not want to fully work, and I suspect these missing elements.

Great video! You go into a lot of detail. I do see the same issues that you've identified. But you didn't talk about (a) range of the devices in a practical experiment and (b) capacitive sensitivity of the transmitter (i.e. sometimes the transmitter needs to be touched /w a finger to make it work!).

Can you recommend similar transmitters/receivers that can transmit 10kHz without any problems? I would like to transmit a pulse position signal. I have already built the modulator and demodulator, but I would like to buy the transmitter as I am not familiar with RF.

Good tests. Can you use the crystal from the transmitter to broadcast a 433 MHz signal? Just a simple on-or-off, either the 433 MHz signal is being broadcast, or it is not being broadcast. I'm trying to build a wireless Morse Code system. Would the receiver then need modifications too?

I am also doing that, I have been searching for the last weeks, and it seems easy to find a cheap kind of reliable way of sending on/off pulses, but in reality when you search how to do it videos telling how to do 8 channel transmitters and voice transmitters appear. I'm glad i'm not the only one doing this nowadays.👍

I find them interesting bc you can learn about Tx/Rx problems and how to handle them, while you can't learn those things with other advanced RF modules

to my knowledge the XY-MK-5V should work with the ATDT Tx module and not with the FS1000A (Tx) even though that you have just proved otherwise, 10:40 good lesson: mine works from 1Hz to 3.5kHz - I cannot measure up to 10kHz because my signal generator on this button range malfunctions 😆

Pretty useless informations. Those are modules for OOK as Layer 1. You put some coded signal at 1k2 baud and you have an OK mean to transmit information at 25-50m. Work like any car remote.
