I love how you explain every step of the process as you're doing it and don't edit out your mistakes 😊 I watched a video on a 242 transfer case disassembly to follow along and the guy edited out all the parts where he struggled to the point of omitting the removal of a snapring and not even editing IN that there was a a snapring there at all 😒 seeing where you guys struggle helps me prepare for where I'm going to struggle 😊👍🏼

Such a helpful video, not editing out the tough parts slowed me to know when it was actually hard to pull something off/out and when it was just me forgetting to unscrew something. I too didn’t realize you had to take off two bolts on the rearmost leg of the fuel rail and couldn’t figure out why it wasn’t moving lol

Deserves two thumbs up. Thanks for this excellent tutorial! Only thing i will do differently is to remove the air intake off the top of the throttle body for more room.

This is an easy way to help a 4.0. The stock injectors are notorious for wearing out an cracking. I did the 4-hole injectors and couldn't be happier. Great video, love the music!

Great video. I had the + and the - wires on the front injector short out as dry , insulator came off and the two shorted. That took out my PCM. Keep a good eye out for any dry and missing insulation.

Just upgraded all mine to 4-holers in my WJ, but I'm going to go ahead and say that the Vaseline is a no~go, and that I used a product called "P-80" lubricant, which is actually designed just for jobs like this.

Agree that any Petroleum based lubricant is a no-go. Silicone based lube is not always readily available so, I have found that plain old dish washing liquid diluted with some water mixed in a cup wiped lightly around the outside of seals works perfectly. They will slide right in the rail and the intake manifold no problem. Best part, when the assembly heats up no greasy residue left to damage the seals!
@deejayautomotive
@deejayautomotive 2 жыл бұрын
It may make installation of the rail easier, but, AFAIK, dish detergent is made to dissolve oils and therefore is not a good lubricant. Also, over time will crack and dry rubber seals and rings. But if it works for you, by all means! FWIW, I agree that silicone grease is almost impossible to find; and to all other viewers, I stand by my decision on using petroleum jelly.
@jamesviehmann4291
@jamesviehmann4291 2 жыл бұрын
@@deejayautomotive I agree that straight full strength dish washing liquid smeared around the seals in the very long term "could" possibly overtime break down seals. But, I clearly state in my post "diluted with some water and mixed in a cup wiped lightly around the outside the seal" I have not, in my experience ever seen a seal failure using this method. But, I have in fact seen seal failures of injector seals from the use of petroleum based greases. But, I do see your point. So.. If anyone wants to play it safe... I would recommend the use of Anti-bacterial hand washing soap (soft soap) found in most bathrooms. Again, diluted with water in a cup works just as well and does NOT contain the grease cutters/dispersal properties of dish washing liquid. I still stand by my statement that use of petroleum based lubricant is a No Go. Petroleum based lubricants (jellies or greases) are generally designed to stay where they are applied so they can continue to lubricate whatever they are applied to. Unfortunately, prolonged contact with petroleum based seal materials like polyurethane or nitrile used for injector seals will over time eventually cause the seal to soften, expand, and fail. For example..How many axle shafts have been replaced because the inboard joint boot failed due to an oil leak dripping down onto the boot. Over time, it softens the rubber, it gets weak and then splits causing grease loss and eventually failure of the joint. I just replaced a right side axle in a Toyota Corolla last week due to this exact issue... Yes, I fixed the oil leak that caused the problem in the first place. LOL! My intent Dee Jay was not to start a pissing contest with ya. I enjoyed the content and hats off to ya for taking the time to put it out there. It's helpful for sure! At least we both agree on Silicone based lubes being the best. Wish it was more readily available. Good luck on future content! Jim

Duude.... NEVER use petroleum based products as lubricant on rubber products! It WILL eventually dissolve the rubber product into a black tar mess that gets into every thing. Use SILICONE lube. BTW... Outside of petroleum jelly, your video is very well formatted and descriptive. btw. silicone grease available at hardware stores in plumbing dept.
