Gabe, I love these videos! So glad you were able to keep the business running. I got started in the mid 90's and at a very young age had the pleasure of talking to Jack after talking my parents into letting me order. Best color discus I ever seen! Someday soon I hope to get back into the hobby but in the meantime, I have the benefit of using these videos to brush up my knowledge!

Hey Gabe , long time in the hobby .A recommendation video would be good 1."tank mates for discus" 2. tank decor for discus what they like what they don't. 3. Adding new fish to a established tank the " right way" 4. Filtration, media etc.. 5. Water changes I hear a lot of people If say discus are too hard to keep.... but I keep mine with angels and balloon rams and there all a big family. Cheers brotha

Have you ever thought about a bare bottom tank for discus? I notice people really over populate discus tanks with lots of discus fishies. Makes it simple to know when to vacuum and do water changes. It also eliminates toxic leaching substrate and decorations. I would suggest just putting styrofoam insulation board or fanfold cut to size under the tank for the bottom. Not necessary for solid wood stands but can help reduce heating costs. Have A good day!

@tatertots-N-soup I have a 65 gallon bare bottoms, have some Driftwood ceramic planter pots and 7 live plants, 6 blue vail, electric blue and blue marbles angelfish ... Tank is awesome. Yes bare bottom is very easy maintaining you can always use some big smooth river rocks also 🪨 # Hobby

Hi Gabe, excellent video on acclimating fish. When I received my fish I had never seen your method, I floated the bags and emptied each bag along with fish into a bucket and netted the fish into the tank. Suggestion, you may want to add a brief description of the method in when shipping the fish. Excellent video, keep up the good work.

Must of the discus keepers run behind water TDS to raise fishes, is ro water must to keep discus? 2. Can u plz make a video on discus strains, becz I see people on interest call different names to different type and it's confusing. Can clarify on how find the strains and spead the awareness.

Hey Gabe, What is the youngest Discus you would sell to a customer? I live in Valrico, Florida, Hillsborough County. Is it better to pick my Discus up, or to ship them to me. Two things I regret doing was going to see Mr. Jack Wattley when he was alive in New Jersey. I’m originally from NYC. The other thing is not meeting Dr. Axelrod in NYC. He lived in Manhattan. I always wanted to attend one of his seminars, but they where rarely in NYC. I’m so glad you continued Hack Wattley’s work. I’m retired now and live in Valrico, Florida. I enjoy you videos. Thank you for sharing.

Hey Gabe, great info as always! Long story boring... I bought 12 tiny discus from a sus online store for ultra cheep, they came with a lot of issues that I had to treat for and still lost several. I also bought some beef heart flakes, I like the flakes, they're nice and thick, and the fish really like it. But I'm very reluctant to use it, (I havent for months) thinking maybe it contributed to my issues. I dunno whats in it, it doesn't have a label. Whatcha think?? Is safe/not safe to use? Have you heard of beef heart flake food causing problems?

Sir, I have a question, As we saw, you just put the fish into the main tank (I am considering it the main tank, correct me if I am wrong) after acclimating them to the main tank water. My question is here. How are we being so sure that the new fishes are not sick or they are not carrying any diseases? It's possible that they might have just got affected and the symptoms have not started showing up. So, aren't we putting our old fishes into risk by doing this? Will it be better to keep them in the quarantine tank for some time? And only after we are fully sure that the new fishes are completely safe for the main tank, we can release them? I am new in Discus keeping. But had this logical question popped in my mind. Will be a great help if you share your opinion.

When you do your water changes, haven't you noticed that the discus love to hang out under the water stream you are putting in. Isn't that water cooler than your tank. Tell me have you killed any in that shuttle temp difference? That won't harm them if it inst exactly the same temp as the tank.

@@JackWattleyDiscus Thank you for the reply! I'm glad to have an expert's opinion. I just worry because it gets cold here and when they arrive sometimes the water is freezing. Even with a slow one hour acclimation the water doesn't even get close to being warm... Sometimes I use a heater in the acclimation bucket before transfering them over.
