How to add a box to Box Pile Hive of Japanese honeybees

I added a box to Box Pile Hive. The colony had grown faster than my expectation.

Love your web site and I love this traditional Japanese beehive probably the most natural beehive I know, but in your web site you didn't talk about any varroa destructor treatment, how you manage that problem?

Japanese bees are apis cerana. They have a natural behavioral and physiological resistance against varroa.

Is it because the comb will drop to the bottom of the hive?

I don't keep these bee hives. I have the European style hives. I assume it's so the bees will build the comb faster. If you were to place it at the top the bees would have to crawl up much further and probably not fill it as fast.

They store honey above and the brood below. This is a brood box.

because the Japanese use the natural development of the bee colony. and civilized countries for some reason decided to do it differently

This year, I am experimenting with a new approach to keeping bees, when the family moves to the top of the hive, and the rest of the space is filled with wax. I want to use natural development as in a Japanese beehive, but with accelerated development due to the presence of frames with wax.
