Thank you so much! I am making the Norma blouse by fibre mood and I didn't like how they suggested overlocking the facing and then sewing it on. I prefer a much cleaner look so I greatly appreciate this tutorial!!

Hello,from this video only one side of the front bodice overlaps?or is it overlapping on both sides

I'm not sure I understand your question. You add the placket amount to both sides of the pattern.

thank you for this tutorial, it is what I have been looking for to make patterns for blouses/shirts that fit properly. Is it possible for you to give us the exact measurements you are using on this shirt? What did you choose for the overlap? Unfortunately, I may need more help than most of your subscribers! Again, many thanks for your inspiring tutorials and for giving us the confidence to expand our skills. Bravo!

The overlap can be anywhere between 1/2 inch to 2 inches, depending on the size of your buttons. Make the overlap just a bit wider than the button.

Another great tutorial. Thank you, Melissa! What would you suggest as an overlap measurement? I'm assuming it depends on your button size, but is there a general guideline? Thanks again, really appreciate this.

You want the width of your button plus some on each side - but I don't have a rule of thumb for how much. I generally kind of look at my buttons and visually select a width. Definitely needs to be less than half the width of the button on each edge, otherwise you'd have fabric flapping over the button on the folded edge.

Yes, the principals would be the same and yes you would probably want to use stretch interfacing

Hi Melly. I love your instructions. I'm a novice so my question is....the facing you make in this video ...is it one continuous piece or did you piece it together somewhere. I couldn't tell and I was thinking, that will take alot of material to cut that shape from....again...novice here.

If I'm adding a henley, so just a partial placket, do I need to add seam allowance and overlap to the entire length?

A henley placket is an entirely different process than this. I'd suggest looking at that tutorial instead.

A button that hits below the bust line, not attractive, it creates an opening and reveals what shouldn’t be seen. 🥴

Which is why I suggest placing buttons according to the fullest part of your bust.
