You make it look so easy Tom!!! Drilling into a kettle would usually make us want to shed a tear, but you made it look safe and simple!! Love this temperature probe hole, what a great feature for a kettle!!!🔥🔥👏👏

Good video Tom! I’m not sure if you touched on it in this video, but I was a little disappointed in SnS for not deburring the contact side of the probe port cover. Mine had sharp edges on the backside from the laser cut. I ended up breaking the burrs with a file and touching up the paint. Just something to note, as it would scratch up the outer finish of the kettle.

What is the inside and outside diameter size of the Inkbird blast tube where it connects to the kettle? I'm trying to determine if it will work with the BBQ Guru kettle adapter , rather than using Inkbird's included adapter. Thank You!

Nice mod Tom. I have a spare weber daisy wheel. Do you think it could work as a guru/smoke hole port cover if I mounted it on my bowl but just drilled out one daisy wheel hole?
@TomHorsmanAmateurBBQ3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching Sparky! It’s worth a try, however once you drill the hole that attaches the daisy wheel, you are then committed to it. I hate to say yes and have it not work..Sorry

Hé Tom, great Mod. Still a question. Now you can no longer get the ashes out of the kettle? the complete stroke is now blocked by the unit.
@TomHorsmanAmateurBBQ3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for Watching! Huh? In the video I show that the ash sweep works the same after the install as before the install.
@TomHorsmanAmateurBBQ3 жыл бұрын
If your referring to the stoker unit the SS 1” port is not mounted permanently I put it in and it is held in with two magnets. It is removed for cleaning

Hey Tom, Did SnS give you a template for the hole relationship to the probe/smoke cover for drilling? or did you figure the hole position yourself?

I don't know why Weber omits features like this on so many grills - other than denying warranty claims from people modding their grills or eventually upselling to more "premium" models. Oh well, we still love em anyways ;-)

I agree! Thanks for watching!

I just installed both of these items on my Weber 26 inch kettle. I installed the smoke hole above the holes used by Weber for their one touch system, but below the hardware for the charcoal grate. All went well, but I hope I didnt put the smoke hole a bit too high. :(. I think I couldve went a bit lower and still been ok. Do you think this will impact functionality of the hole is higher than Weber's?

I have a very picky complaint about this ash catcher which is, in some of the models it lifts and twists while this one you have to squeeze and lift. It's not as simple as the lift and twist!
