This video lists everything needed to wire in an automatic water drain for a 1PH 220V air compressor. I've attempted to give links to every part in the video, below, however, some parts are only feasible to purchase locally.
Parts List:
ASCO Red Hat Solenoid Valve: www.kleen-ritecorp.com/p-1745...
Omron Time-Delay Controller: www.ebay.com/itm/OMRON-NEW-H3...
Fork Terminals: amzn.to/2JKEkIC
Wire Nuts: amzn.to/2L73aDt
18ga Wire: amzn.to/2Vx3ahM
10ga Stranded Wire: See your local electrician or hardware store
Blue Flex ENT Conduit: amzn.to/3oiaLNN
Blue Flex ENT Conduit Ends (This one is ridiculously overpriced, but you can use the description to get one at your hardware store): amzn.to/36CrUvy
Junction/Gang Box: $3 at your hardware store
Gang Box Connectors: amzn.to/2JyDYVV
1/2" Steel Flex Conduit (sold by the foot at some hardware stores): amzn.to/39EpU7W
1/4" NPT Male-to-Male: amzn.to/33GMyce
1/4" Push-Lok Connector (the plastic ones at the hardware store are much cheaper): amzn.to/2Vyre3V
1/4" Clear Poly Drain Tube: $5 at your local hardware store
Heat Shrink: amzn.to/37ykFE7
Butt-Connectors: amzn.to/2KZNNMR

I just watched your video, and as a licensed Union electrician for 30+ yrs. You should have mounted your timer/ contacts off your Air compressor and to the wall. In time with all that vibration from the Compressor motor. The timer can and will shake loose from its seat/base. Nice video and a little complex but works.

Oh there most undoubtedly has to be better ways to do this. My cover mechanically locks the timer in - only reason I've been safe from vibrations. Would still prefer something wall mounted if possible. People are usually shocked when they find out I'm not an electrician 😃

The reason it has a pigtail coming out is it’s a sealed unit. Adds some protection

Excellent instructional video because of you’re attention to detail. I have a much smaller compressor and at the end of the day I drain the tank of air completely and leave the valve open until I need air again. That’s what I thought the “drain daily” label meant. I now have my compressor located remotely so opening and closing that valve everyday has become a pain. Am I correct in assuming this automatic setup will expel enough water so that the residual air left in the tank will be sufficiently dry to prevent sediment and rust build up? I only use my compressor a few days a week . Many thanks !

Works perfect for someone running their compressor once a month OR once an hour

Very clean install but(lol) my one concern, how will the vibration affect the timer.

Great point. I forgot to mention - I found a gang box the right dimension that prevents the timer from dislodging. As far as longevity/lifespan, I will certainly update if I have any issues arise from it. The fact everything is solid mounted between motor and reservoir tank kind of blows my mind. There is certainly a LOT of vibration present. My fix, if it became an issue, would be to relocate the timer to the wall.

How has the auto-drain been holding up, and how did you drop the amps down for the low amp timer and 18awg wire?

Knock on wood, it's been flawless so far. The only issue I've seen it all is the condensation can freeze outside since it gets down to negative 20゚ here. Just gotta keep an eye on that when it's really cold out.

Good to hear! I'm thinking of doing this. Your video is great! Time for a heated blanket on the tank, eh? For those colder climates. :)

Couldn’t you just have plugged it into a wall socket?

Those style of timers are always on. So you can set them to drain every 12 hours. But if you're not using the compressor for a week, it's a waste. And if you're painting and needing it to drain every 5 minutes, then that obviously doesn't work either.
