My main ITX pc has 2x 8-port USB hubs attached …. as I have a printer, camera, 2x keyboards, 2x mouses, rgb light strips, a few external storage drives, SSD/HDD clone drive, external BluRay drive, SD etc card reader and other devices all hooked up at one time 🤯🤩😇 so these expansion cards are pivotal for me 🥰😉

Hi, thank you for posting this video! I built a new motherboard, namely the ROG Crosshair VIII Dark Hero, in a Cooler Master Master Case 5 Pro. The case's USB 3.0 connector did not fit the motherboard's USB 3.2 Gen 1 header, as it did with my previous ROG motherboard, and all of a sudden I was facing a problem using my front panel USB ports. I found a local online store selling the same PCIe adaptor. After the installation in a PCIe X1 slot, the front panel cable connected easily to the board's USB 3.0 header, and as a result the problem was solved. Before that, I ordered an adaptor cable USB-C to USB 3.0, which would fit in the motherboard's USB 3.2 Gen 2 header, but it will take a long time to arrive. That cable would be another workaround to the same issue, but gladly not necessary any more. When building, I did not want to push the front panel USB 3.0 female connector to the header, because normally it should fit the header without effort. I am not sure exactly what happened, but at that moment it seemed to me that the connector's dimensions were not the same and thus would not fit. Be as it may, in the end I was glad that I did not damage the motherboard, thanks to your video.

I believe most cases with type-C ports (including that Corsair 4000D) are actually 3.1 Gen 2 at 10Gbps not Gen 1 at 5Gbps. This can feel frustrating as many motherboards (even some expensive ones) come with only a 5Gbps Gen 1 header even if they have one at all. B550 boards are particularly prone to this; just be aware of that if you want to get the full speed from the port on your case :)

Just remember that you can't boot from any of those USB ports to install/repair Windows unless it has a special chip that allows the motherboard to see this card during power-up.

I have a similar one in my PC (£22 on Amazon), it takes up a x2 slot and does 10Gb/s and will run a USB NVME at almost 1000MB/s (~10Gb/s). But having one that fits in a x1 slot has more options to fit a motherboard as the budget ones tend to skimp on slots.

To avoid putting them both through the same PCI-E 1x, I'd put the 3.0 into the available motherboard connector... There are also various converters on ebay, but not one that splits the internal 3.0 as well unless you make an absolutely crazy chain of 3 (19 to 2x A, A to E, A to 19). PS. Optimum setup may depend on what to other ports are used for.

I picked up the 10Gbps version of this card, works perfectly adding 10Gbit USB-C to the front IO of my Fractual case (After I bought the IO cable and connector separately wtf Fractual?). However the type e female port is as weak as chocolate on a summers day, it will bend under the smallest pressure, stupidly I plugged mine in then needed to cable manage it differently, I figured I could move the cable a bit but the connector bent right down, as I moved it back up is snapped off. It is secured by 4 tiny spades, unlike the rigid USB 3.0 style port. Luckily all the pins were still file so I put it back on sliding over the metal data pins then 4 dabs of super glue down the sides and its fine. If it was an Amazon product I think I would have returned for replacement or alternative but cba with a 3rd party so just glued it. Just be careful, works perfectly but dont put the port under any pressure at all!

i never knew these types existed not that i ever needed one atm, i have a standard usb type a card for 3.0 it was originally for a fx 6300 system but that board finally died years ago. it is currently in my core 2 quad system with the ddr3 memory type board i have no idea if the pci x1 are 1.0 or 2.0 as it seems hard to find that info on it for some reason, but when connecting external hdds the speeds are decent between 70 to 100mb/s and ssd's seem to be about 100 to 150+ so must be 2.0 if that's the case.

My current mother board and tower both support USB 3.0 but the head/plastic part of the connection from the tower is off--I ripped off my USB 3.0's plastic head while unplugging it when changing my mother board. Mike, I have the Corsair 5000D and no type-E connections. The only thing is that the wire coming from it says "USB Revision 3.1" on it (this video is for 3.0 and 3.2). Will card cover that?

Hello I have a similar product. it has x4 usb A and x1 usb c. It has pcie x1, sata and 19pin. Will it work if I only plug it into the PCIEx1 slot and SATA power without plugging in the 19pin from the header to the motherboard?
