Just a note for anyone following this 2023 and onward - the part number has been updated and they changed container colors (from white to black). Same exact stuff though: SOA868V9272

What do I do if I open the radiator cap and it's empty? Do I fill it first before opening the bleeder valve or open the bleeder valve first?

Should i drain the fluid to refill the coolant if I don’t know which coolant was used before?
@JetFalco
@JetFalco 2 жыл бұрын
If you know the exact coolant your car needs according to the manual and you have a new amount of that, a flush and refill wouldn't hurt. Especially if the fluid in your car now looks completely different, as some repair shops might've put in the wrong stuff or something generic. That's happened to me with previous cars and they've overheated. Going with OEM-specific fluids is always good. But if your fluid in your car now looks like the same the manual specifies (blue or green or orange, depending on what they say) then you might be okay. But when in doubt, be careful not to mix colors. Always go with the color the OEM manual says.

I run the 18" TRD FR-S Wheels on the street, and I switch to the 17" TRD FR-S Wheels every now and then. They both look great on this car as they're the sport wheels designed by Toyota, they're made strictly for this car and don't cost a lot. I'm adding Tein Flex Z Coilovers soon.

Hi, my mechanic just put water instead of coolant, I just had a drive of an hour and my engine started doing a weird noise and check engine started blinking, maybe this is the cause of that? My engine was completely replaced hours before with every original and new pieces

Water can only be a temporary replacement until you get the proper coolant in.

I understand this vid was a while ago so not expecting a reply but.. I open the radiator cap then as I open the bleed screw it pushes coolant up and out the radiator a bit. Any idea, why that is?

After two very frustrating days, I finally did. I attached a funnel to the radiator after I already raced the engine several times because it kept overflowing out the radiator every time I opened the bleeder, even after waiting a minute or two every attempt. With the funnel still attached, I went straight to the step of letting the engine idle up to operating temperature and turning on the cabin heat (make sure the fluid level is low enough in the funnel because it will rise with heat) and just rev it a few times for the bubbles to come out of the radiator part (funnel) once at operating temperature. Shut the car off and wait for it to cool completely once there are no more bubbles. Once totally cold top up the radiator fluid to the bottom of the funnel (or if big bubbles are coming and fluid is dropping rapidly while revving then top it up at this time), open the bleeder valve and the fluid should be right at the top, if it’s not, just repeat above (it took about 3 cycles for me). If there is fluid at the top of the bleeder then congrats! No air is in the system at all anymore. As long as the thermo gauge doesn’t go above half there should be adequate cooling. I did this two weeks ago car hasn’t had any issues. Good luck! Hopefully this wasn’t too much to read 😂
