Tee time at Chambers Bay Tuesday Morning! So excited to get back out! You have anything planned?

Nothing as grand as Chambers. During the downtime I’ve been hitting the net pretty hard. When I want to put some pressure on myself I imagine I’m teeing off at Echo Falls #18 or Eagles Talon #17 (gotta love those water carries). If I can’t make those visions a reality then it’ll probably be something like Lynwood, Nile or Jackson with my birdie-seeking 10-year old.

@@SamBrown76 I have never played Chambers so I figured "Go Big!". I will definitely be visiting Lynnwood, Nile and Jackson many times in the near future. Those are my regulars! Enjoy and stay healthy.

Thinking about doing this too! Great video. My brother is three inches shorter than me, and I'm going to be given his clubs. I'm on the fence of getting new shafts, new irons, or lengthening them. This video helped a lot.

Great video! Thanks for taking the time to go over everything step-by-step. One question, because I've heard so many conflicting things about shaft extensions. How much of a difference does a 1/2" extension make on the way the club plays? Does it alter the swing weight, the overall weight of the club, or anything else? I'm pretty perceptive with my equipment and notice a lot of little things about my clubs that others may not. Would I notice the difference between a club that has been extended 1/2" versus one that was originally built that way? Thanks for your time.
@SeekingBirdiesGolf
@SeekingBirdiesGolf 3 жыл бұрын
Hey Dave, Thanks for the feedback! To answer your question about it changing the swing weight; Yes. Anytime you alter the length, shortening or extending, you are moving the balance point. Now every club is different, so adding a 1/2” can add maybe just a gram or two or maybe 5-8 grams. This would be corrected by adding some counterweights. From everything I have heard, read, and experienced; to the average golfer this would probably all go unnoticed. To someone that is a scratch golfer/low handicap it might be more noticeable. It is very negligible to the overall weight of the club and I know many golfers that added extensions without adding counterweight and have never complained about the change in feel beyond having the longer shaft. So in conclusion, it is case specific; but I think the benefits of playing the correct length out weigh the potential changes in swing weight at 1/2”; if you go longer like a full inch then yes, it will be noticeable. But you can always add a little weight to correct this. Thanks Dave, let me know if you have any other questions!

Turn your club upside down when the epoxy is drying. This way the epoxy does not drip down to the head of the club and dry there.

What did you do about the swingweight, when you add 1" to your irons you add about 4 swingweight points (feels like adding 8 grams extra headweight). It's likely to have shifted from a possible D2 to a D6. You can add about 0.5" which doesn't really affect swingweight because it also functions as a counterweight with all the extra weight you put into the butt of the shaft. But more than that the swingweight will change. That's something I think you need to address in the video

I went to Golf Galaxy to buy a super stroke, putter grip. I like the wider grips, and I asked the guy at the counter I have a 34 inch putter and I want to make it a 35 inch so I bought a grip and an extension at the store and then he gave me the scare tactic. I worry about the swing weight? I don’t think it would matter too much with a putter. What do you think? Thanks, John.

Why dont you use compressed air to remove grips, which you can also reuse.

If I add an inch extension to the butt end of my driver, will I increase or decrease swing weight?
@keithtaylor5615
@keithtaylor5615 2 жыл бұрын
For every inch added the subsequent lie angle would need to flattened by 1deg possibly 2 as the toe would sit up otherwise.

Great video! I am going to attempt this tomorrow. For the cutting, did the pipe cutter dull after a number of shafts? Most at the hardware store don't list cutting steel. Or have you tried a hacks saw or other tools to cut as well? Thanks!
@SeekingBirdiesGolf
@SeekingBirdiesGolf 3 жыл бұрын
I would definitely use a pipe cutter. I just got mine from Home Depot. It takes quite a bit to dull the blade, I have used it for 2 sets of clubs and each time worked great. Good luck!

Depends on the type of extensions you buy. The ones I used are double ended so you get 2 extensions it if one unit. I hope that answers your question!

Is it easy to change grips in future after extensions have been put on?
@viperboss7
@viperboss7 2 жыл бұрын
Hmm.. Why cut the extension AFTER installing instead of before? It's easy to mark the length needed and much more convenient to cut without the club hanging there. Plus, less risk of damaging the new epoxy job. Just sayin...
