We’ll also cover some things to watch out for so that you do it right and don’t bork your system. We also take a look at some great Fan Made games that came out for the Atari 2600 that you’ll be able to play on your consoles once you do this simple mod.

Hey! thanks so much for the tutorial here. i had a 2018 Flashback and used the windows formatter, and my card would not read. this video helped me big time!

Thanks for this! I found a portable unit at Goodwill for $8 a couple years ago and was amazed that it actually works. I wouldn't care if it only played Asteroids, lol, that was always one of my favorites. Despite the small screen and the control layout being different, it still feels and plays just as familiar as the old 2600 and the joystick. Tons of fun. Now I need to try to load up some more of my old favorite games. Thanks for the help!

Thank you!!! I also tried Windows 10 formatter, and it didn't work. Tried the SD Association formatter, and it worked like a charm!!!

I have the flashback 9 and whenever i download the update for it and put the sd card into the atari it just goes to the menu screen, and i followed all the instructions.

13:10 composite out systems, AR3220 & AR3230, don't need a firmware update. The composite units work similar to the Portable 2600 flashback. You just properly format a good 1G, 2G or 4G SD card and load your games. The composite output, on big screens, looks blocky, however.

Do you know where to find those games file with ".bin" extension after reboot the console? We were stuck at the step rebooting with the firmware file and as you mentioned in the video we were kept being asked if we want to upgrade system.

Just google ""atari 2600 roms" and you'll find plenty of websites that have these files available for download. Please keep in mind that technically every Atari ROM is copyrighted unless that copyright has been specifically renounced.

how to i add games to the handheld one, it isnt working, it kicks me out when i open the sd card browser, i might not be using the right games though, can somone send me a link to the right roms?

Hey man! My mom wants an Atari with Pac-Man but none of them come included with it. She really wants that old feeling of the Atari and the joysticks with everything. Which is the best option to buy. And thanks to this I know how to upload roms to it.

Hey Soupp! The Flashback 9 (like I showed in the video amzn.to/2ZvHrcv) is the easiest to side load the ROMs on to and the controllers will look and feel just like Mom remembers. If she really wants to go old school, this Flashback X (amzn.to/3hnkD4X) comes with a few more games, but it looks exactly just a mini version of the original Atari 2600 VCS. The only downside about the X is in order to load ROMs you need to open up the machine. (Pretty much the same process after you get the case open). Even though the Flashback Portable comes with PacMan and you can plug it into a TV, the controls aren't the same and the video out isn't the best so I would avoid that. So short answer... if your comfortable opening he case go with the X, if not go to with 9, either way Mom will have a great time

The Interwebs are full of sites to download ROMs for the Atari, just google ""atari 2600 roms" and you'll find plenty of sources. Please keep in mind that technically every Atari ROM is copyrighted unless that copyright has been specifically renounced.

The 9, X, and the portable are the only ones that you can add games to that I know of. Slight exception in the Flashback 2 which can be modded to accept original cartridges.

Also it says 110 games but I can't play them all
