How to add games to the NES Classic!

The NES Classic - you saw our first vid on it, right? moderndad.com/n... - is a cool little piece of nostalgia. But it's sorely lacking in the games department. Or, rather, it REALLY needs a way to add games.
Fortunately the NES community has answered, and in a big way. And after a few rounds of tinkering we now have a super easy way to add games to the NES Classic.
I used the hakchi2 method. You'll want to read through the instructions yourself, but here's the gist of how I did it, boiled down from a reddit post: / nes_classic_mini_easy_... , and another here: / russian_hacker_madmonk... ... Full props to those folks!
You'll need at least Windows 7 to get this done.
OBLIGATORY WARNING: You're doing this at your own risk. If your teeth loosen and your eyes start to bleed, I didn't do it.
1. Download hakchi2 and unzip: github.com/mad...
2. Browse to your saved ROMs, and decide what you want to install on the NES Classic. (I kept the original 30 games, too.)
3. Find box art - either use your own, or just hit the handy Google button in the GUI to automagically search. (Nice touch!)
4. Plug your NES Classic into your PC using the microUSB cable. Leave the console turned off. We're going to enter FEL mode.
5. Hold down the reset button on the front. Then press (and release) the power button. After a few seconds, release the reset button. You won't actually see anything happen.
6. You should now be able to hit the sync button in the hakchi2 program. (If you didn't get the FEL mode thing right, it'll tell you. I didn't do it right the first time and nothing blew up.)
7. Reboot the NES Classic.
8. Profit!

This worked great. The new 2.11 version can add up to 600 games. I only got 90 of the games I have and play the most. This is wonderful because the NESmini is easy to take with me to game anywhere and also a great gift and love seeing the face on someone when they see it has way over 30 games. The games played great for hours without even warming the system.

This is great, I got one for Christmas and it made me want to play some of my old favorites like Gyromite, and Contra. I wish this would work for Gumshu, and Hogan's Ally.

If you want to know just check the rom file size or if you have the files in a folder you can check a total size. The nes classic has 300 mb of space.

Now i only need to find one in stores. I don't actually need one as i have a Raspberry pi with games from every retro console installed on it. The only reason i want on e is because they are pretty cool. It would be so awesome if they continued this up to a mini GameCube.

Ok so I added a couple of new games onto the console (Ducktales and Rampage), but for some reason the file is showing up, I press start, and then it goes straight back to the home screen. Is there anything that I should do differently?

okay, so I have an original Nintendo nes cartridge for duck tales game. I want to get in onto my nes classic mini... can it be converted or whatever to be able to add it to the classic mini ? if so how do I do that

I am using v2.17 on Windows 10 64 bit and i keep getting an error when syncing. About 75% of the way it says can't write to USB. I am using a USB port on my motherboard and a known good cable. I am attempting to add 32.5 mb of games. Read Only is not selected. any ideas?

I think I mess it up. I did the first steps after Hakchi intall and say now I can add games I press ok. Before it starts to add the games the console turns of then nothing. I connect the system to see but screen is black for a second then says shutting down. I need help

romsmania, emuparadise, emulatorzone, isozone, the list goes on, basically any rom distributor site that DOESNT make any profit whatsoever, because if it does make profit, Nintendo can, and WILL hunt it down.

the worst i've seen happen is a soft brick which requires you getting customer support to fix, i have not seen permanent and unfixable damage but i'm sure it's possible if you do it wrong

Nothing. Absolute worst is some corrupted and unplayable games will clutter up your game select screen.
