Yeah. I will stick with learning how to use vending machines with MetroCard in the MTA subways in New York. This is difficult for me to learn because I live in NY and not in San Francisco.

I added $20 using a credit card and it added it to the e-purse. Would love to know why it did that versus it adding it to the usable fare total. That was not my intention. I have no idea where I'd use this e-purse so it would be great if that were explained here, or anywhere. Also, your audio stated, "with the top of the card to your right". That doesn't make sense.

my kid uses for bus rides. so to add $$ to my clipper card, I MUST visit near by BART station?

not necessarily, you can go online or go to VTA / CalTrain stations that have a machine similar to this one. It depends on convience

This is useful. But if you recognize the fact that this process is confusing - why not simplify it? (why touch twice? what is e-purse? why select card type instead of having the machine just read it?)

E-purse :An electronic purse is the store of value on a card, which can be used in a manner similar to cash to pay for travel or for other small-scale transactions. The electronic “purse” is secure information stored in a dedicated area or file in the smart-card.
