IMPORTANT! If you've followed all the instructions but still don't see fog (or some other effect) then make sure your graphics are at maximum in the game menu. Thanks to ꧁Mr.Login4ik꧂ for figuring that one out!

3:18 :) Very useful tutorial I had no idea how you manage to get those effects such as the water in your hide & seek challenge. I had thought you used the tile editor or something but thanks for sharing how you did it!.

Yeah I thought people could use this. I couldn't find any other videos on KZfaq about it and some people had requested I make a video on how it's done. The only place I did find some info about it was a guide on Steam but it was rather hard to follow and missing some details so I had to figure out how to fill in the blanks to make it work. :)

15:34 fire node & fire effect are different things, fire node is intended for damaging the character when they enter the node, challenge mode doesn't load the manager for fire nodes.

I think this should be useful for a challenge idea I have in mind. Especially the fire and sparks.

Yeah effects can really enhance the look and feel of a level. The devs should really make it so effects can be added in the challenge builder but until then this is how we do it. :)

This was a great tutorial! I would recommend adding chapters onto the video to make it easier to come back to different steps without skipping through the video. thanks!

First of all, perfect tutorial, goes into the right amount of details. Secondly, a quick question, could it be that nodes are incompatible with prefabs? I tried mak myself a prefab with two specific lighting effect nodes, and they did not have an effect once i placed the prefab

I believe prefabs are incompatible with challenge mode. Not 100% sure on that.

No i followed all your instruction i use the tile editor from inside the mod tool but i dont see any bluprints and i dont missed any step.

In the tile editor in the mod tool I don't see the surface of the water, and its not listed in the outliner, so when I finished the wrest of the tutorial and loaded up my challenger, the water was invisible, I could interact with it just fine, but I couldn't see it. Great tutorial otherwise though!

Hmm it seems people are having some trouble with the tutorial as of late...I will look into it as soon as I can and see if something has changed either on SM's end or something I forgot to explain. :)

i think i somehow broke the mod tool. i was following instructions and i couldn't find the mod i had 7:06. and whenever i tried to do something to fix that issue it crashed. and it need an update. is there any way to fix it :/

Hm. Not sure what happened but I would try uninstalling the mod tool and reinstalling it.

the water doesnt show up for me what sucks because i need it for a water pvp map

If every instruction is followed carefully it will work. If you even miss a comma or something inside a file, it will fail to parse the file and not show up. It can be tricky to get it right but it does work. Take care :)

@@XeridoxVisualArtsI followed everything perfectly and the water only showed up in the editor but it didn’t affect creations and it would disappear when I started testing or just pressed play

Sounds like you've missed a step somewhere. Make sure you're using the tile editor from inside the mod tool. If you use the one in the game menu then you won't see blueprints.

Everything works! Cool. What could be the reason if there is no fog effect 19:00. When I go into the chelenge itself as you do, play. There is fire/water. But there is no fog.

It seems there was one fog effect that didn't work. Which one did you use?

@@XeridoxVisualArts No longer relevant. I'm going to your chelenge, where there is a fog as an effect. I don't have that fog. That means you added it by changing your personal game files for visual appearance. And everyone else who goes through, doesn't see it.

@@XeridoxVisualArts In your Big Room Challenge video, there was a fog. I signed up for your Challenge, came in, and I didn't have it in the game. That is, the fog was only visually visible in the video when you made it.

@@mrlogin4ik If you're talking about the Bathroom, the fog appears in Scrapman's video as well. I made sure the only files modified were the ones to get the effects to appear in the tile editor. However, I will try again later today with a fresh installation to make sure.

@@XeridoxVisualArts I agree with you, the Scrapman's has fog in the video, but after following your guide, there is no fog in the game. Maybe something needs to be turned on.
