Discover how to adjust grind setting of Philips super automatic coffee machine.
You can adjust the grind settings by the knob inside the bean container. From a fine grind for a full-bodied espresso o a coarse grind for a lighter coffee flavor. Only adjust the grind settings when the machne is grinding coffee beans. To adjust the grinder; place a cup under the coffee spout. Press the 'Espresso' button and when the grinder starts grinding change the setting with the adjustment key.

I have the Philips 3100 and I'm using Dark Roast coffee. My grinder is set to the middle. What is the best setting to use? Because lately, after i try to make coffee, the grinder makes a really loud noise, and no coffee comes out.

what is the best grind setting to have the best test and smell? Does it depend on the coffee bean or the setting?

HI Irene, thanks for reaching out. It really depends on what you prefer. But a coarse grind will, generally speaking, have less flavor. But too fine may taste bitter. And the quality of the beans will naturally also have an effect on the taste, and aroma. Hope this helps. :)

Hi, I have philips ep 2210. I can’t orientate what is the best grind for me...I have 12 levels of grinding. Which is the best position? By default was 6 or 7. Can you explain more deeply grinding settings and how much coffee is going (in grams) for one shot esspresso?

HI theree, thanks for reaching out to us. It actually fully depends on what you prefer. A thicker grind will have a bit less flavor. A very fine grind can taste a bit bitter. You just have to experiment and look at what works best for you :)

Hi, i have the 1200 Phillips, im unable to set the grinder correctly. Is there a video to show how to about this type of grinder? It says press it and turn clockwise or in oposite direction for finer coffee, but when i press it only goes clockwise, not sure if i need to use force to move in the oposite direction. Also where if the indicator that tells you on which setting is at the moment, there are only numbers on the moving part, but cant see anything on the fixed part that will show me where the current grinder setting is. Thanks

Hi, thanks for reaching out with your query about the 1200 series grinder setting. It's important not to apply too much force when adjusting the grinder as this could cause damage. The grinder should indeed turn clockwise for a coarser grind and counterclockwise for a finer grind. If it's not moving in both directions, it may be necessary to check if anything is obstructing its movement or if it's properly engaged. As for the indicator, there should be a marker on the fixed part of the grinder to indicate the current setting; it's usually a line or arrow. Is it possible to setup time of grinding? It seems to me to produce low amount of grinded beans now, so the coffe is not so good and rest in trash is not compact, but wet mash. philips hd 8824

Hello. One question , i think iam doing right , but just want to be sure. I have a philips 3200 series 3221/40. I want a stronger taste and a finer blend so i turned towards level one . Is it clockwise isn't? Could it be possible that you dont notice it inmediatelly and take a couple of coffes before you notice the difference? Thanks

Thanks for sharing, Javier. It does take a few cups before the difference in flavour is noticable (2-3 cups), and the lower the grind setting, the finer (and stronger) the flavour should be. So, by comments I understand 1 is the finer setting for stronger coffee, but what's the reference? I mean do I turn clockwise or counterclockwise? How do I know it's set to 1?

Hi there, to make the grind finer you need to turn the knob towards number one, whereas to make it coarser you need to turn the knob towards number 10, which is engraved on the knob itself. Hope this makes sense. :)

Hello, I recently purchases philips 3200 (ep3221/44). I was trying to adjust grind level to brew stronger flavor/ finer grind of coffee. Do I turn the knob to "clockwise" for finer grind and "counter clockwise" for coarser grind??? Is there center or any standard where you need to align those dots to??

Thanks for your recent purchase of our espresso machine, Lee! You can change the coffee strength with the grind setting knob inside the bean container. The lower the grind setting, the finer the coffee beans are ground and the stronger the coffee. There are 12 different grind settings you can choose from. The machine has been set up to get the best taste out of your coffee beans. Therefore we advise you not to adjust the grinder settings until you have brewed 100-150 cups (approx. 1 month of usage). You can only adjust the grind settings when the machine is grinding coffee beans. You need to brew 2 to 3 drinks before you can taste the full difference. Notes: Do not turn the grind setting knob more than one notch at a time to prevent damage to the grinder. 1 Place a cup under the coffee dispensing spout. 2 Open the lid of the coffee bean hopper. 3 Tap the espresso icon and then press the start/stop button. 4 When the grinder starts grinding, press down the grind setting knob and turn it to the left or right. You turn it left for lower intensity, and right for higher intensity. Hope that explains it well about adjusting the grinder settings! @@Philips So the projection to the left of the knob must not be the reference? Becasue if it was, then turning to the right would result in the larger numbers being lined up to that projection which would mean larger numbers are finer grind and more intense.

@@Philips Sorry to say that but your explanation (its just copy paste from the manual) is very bad. You have no clue which griner setting you are on. Does the image shows you just how to turn it? Or are the symbols on top of the setting an indicator which griner setting I am on? (Cause if the symbol shows which griner setting is set, then 'clockwise' means, the number increases = light flavor. Please use the words 'clockwise' and counter clockwise in future manuals. For example: Clockwise = stronger flavor (Idk if this is right or not)

Mine says to use the adjustment key, too, but there's no key and instead it has a little wheel built in that I can turn. Set it to the smallest setting, but my coffee is still sort of watery. Even with the aroma+ function.

The same problem here. I don't have any multifunctional tool. I just have a little wheel. The main question is whether I could adjust the grinder settings while the machine is completely off or I should use this wheel when the machine is grinding coffee beans?

It is only possible to adjust the coffee grinder settings with the knob, when the machine is grinding coffee beans. Hello everyone. I had to actually call Philips to get help since my model would not grind while the door was open. For my model, you have to power the machine down and then you'll be able to make the adjustment. I hope that helps someone out!

I love my Carina 1200 but have noticed it uses a lot of beans. Using on factory setting. My coffee supplier sold me 12 pounds of beans in 6 months!!! I pull 4 shots per day. Yikes!

А как настроить количество? Кофе очень слабый. Уменьшил помол, но с уменьшением помола уменьшилось и количество. Теперь таблетка вообще не формируется, кофе не прессуется, в мусорник сбрасывается жижа. Если скрутить помол на максимум, таблетка формируется, но кофе очень слабый так как помол слишком крупный. Время помола всегда 7 секунд при выставленной максимальной крепости на дисплее, не зависимо от величины помола, соответственно при меньшем помоле количество намолотого кофе слишком мало. Как настроить время помола хотя-бы до 11ти секунд?

Здравствуйте! При изменении степени помола у кофемашины срабатывает система адаптации. После смены настроек в течение 10-15 напитков будет наблюдаться подобная работа устройства, после этого вкус напитка улучшится, кофе станет более крепким и насыщенным. В зависимости от модели крепость можно настроить с помощью клавиш на дисплее, как правило они выглядят в виде зерна. Чем больше делений закрашено, тем больше зёрен будет использовано. Функционально отрегулировать время работы кофемолки невозможно.

@@Philips выше я писал, что крепость настроенная на дисплее выставлена на максимум, 5 из 5ти зёрен. Успел сделать чашек 10, но время помола так и осталось 7 секунд. В сервисном режиме в момент сжатия пустого заварника показывает ток 135. По таблице SAS самая низкая степень сжатия начинается с тока 200, может наоборот, ему нужен больше ток чтобы он начал подстраивать время помола? Вроде написано, что за раз должно прибавиться 2, это 2 импульса от датчика холла на мельнице?

@@Philips я из Латвии. Аппарат уже забрал клиент, у него ко вкусу кофе претензий нет. Но мне всё-же хотелось бы узнать, как можно увеличить время помола в такой ситуации. Такие или подобные аппараты бывают в ремонте довольно часто.
