Straight up, if you are thinking of this chair stop thinking, go buy it and when you do get all the upgrades. I spent over a year researching what chair I wanted to buy because I have serious pain issues and needed to buy the right chair and I bought the fully upgraded Steelcase Gesture, headrest, lumbar and scotchguard, and upgraded the base for asthetics and the casters for hardwood floors. I love this chair so much that I did a review of mine after having it for 5 months because I didn't find any good review videos when I was shopping for a new chair (they were mostly base model or unboxing reviews), I bought it a little over 2 years ago thankfully the reviews have gotten a lot better but still are mostly the base model. I broke my neck (C1, C2 and C7 fractures) when I was 27 and have been living with neurological pain, muscular and skeletal pain ever since, almost. I say almost because my neurological pain is completely gone from my neck after having it consistantly for around 8 years where it felt like an 8" needle was being stabbed in my neck from underneath my right ear all the way to my spine. My muscular pain and skeletal pain levels have dropped exponentially. In my old chair I could sit for max 4 hours and then barely be able to walk after. In this chair I have been able to sit in it for over 30 hours when I change my sleep schedule to night shift, which I have to do fairly often and even after sitting in it that long I don't have pain. When I'm not at work I sometimes spend upwards of 14 hours a day in this chair because I only have 2 chairs. This one and my old one that I use as a shelf. Steelcase doesn't have any idea how much this chair has made a difference in my life. It is nothing short of one of the greatest blessings I have, it's given me a life with manageable pain levels and that's worth well more than what I paid for it. Think about it. We spend 1/3 of our lives laying in a bed, and if your a gamer you or office worker, programmer, or just a good old nerd like we all are here on youtube you probably spend 1/3 of your life sitting. Always buy the best bed, chair and shoes you can to take care of your body. It's well worth it to save up for the best quality you can get because in the long run it will save you thousands on pain management. Not even joking, I've had to spend that kind of money on pain management and this chair costs a fraction of what regular IMS and massage treatments cost. Think about it, $80 a visit and if you gotta go weekly like I was having to go because of pain you can see how fast that adds up to more than the cost of a good chair. Even if you only go biweekly you will still spend more on a massage in a year than you will on this chair. If you go monthly, you'll spend more in 2 years than the chair and get to live with constant pain so yay. Get the chair and a heating pad. No joke. It has lowered most of my pain my pain and eliminated my neurological pain. If it can lower my pain, it probably will lower yours also. I'm pretty certain that I'm going to do another review of it since I've had it since November 2018. As you can see I'm still incredibly happy with my purchace. I've even bounced around the idea of getting a second one. I am certain that I will. Would be great to have this chair in my workshop instead of my old chair crappy chair that hurts to sit in, and have the second one for my office. The scotchguard is great, I've dropped sauce covered chicken right on the seat and it just brushed off. Chair still looks new, color isn't as bright on the seat as it used to be but unless I'm looking at a side by side comparison you can't even tell. Since I have a review of mine after 5 months I have that side by side comparison. The only thing I've needed to do to this chair is fabreze the seat. I think I've done that only a few times. Without question buying this chair is the best purchace I've made in my life. My quality of life has dramatically improved as a result. So thank you Steelcase for all the hard work and R&D you put into this chair. If anyone doesn't know about their multi million dollar sitting study it's worth looking into. This is the best chair you will ever have, and the only chair you'll need for the rest of your life. Made in good ol USA. You can never go wrong with that, and if that isn't enough they donated their first factory to the salvation army. I've said it in my review video that this chair is a Godsend and I mean it. If I had to sell everything I own and keep only one thing there is no contest, I'd keep the chair.

I’ve had this chair for over a month and use it daily 8 hours a day for work. I’m 6’0. It is very comfortable, solid with no creeks or pops, and rolls very well on my plastic chair pad over carpet. I feel like a finally have a real chair compared to the low quality chairs I’ve always had at home. The adjustable arms are great. The elbow pads are firm, but soft enough. I can sit for several hours and not be sore. Overall, I have no regrets.

That's called lounge mode and it's ultra comfy. I personally love that only the backrest moves. Different strokes for different folks I guess but I spend so much time lounging back with my feet up, it's probably 90% of my sitting in the chair, I'll even game laying back with my keyboard in my lap. It's the only way I watch movies. There have been more than a few occasions where I close my eyes for a second and then when I open them up 8 hours have gone by and it's morning.

@theraisinoftruth4370 3 жыл бұрын
@@jjsereday I don't think that's accidental, an adjustable seat angle would change the weight capacity and effect the stability triangle, it's got a 400lbs weight capacity so if you angle the seat back, then lean back fully as a 400lb person everyone around is going to yell "TIMBER" and that would suck. People wear their weight differently too, I've met dudes with super skinny legs and really fat upper bodies. Imagine the guy Big Ed from 90 day fiance sitting in a chair that the seat has a 12° angle, doesn't sound like much until you lean back because all your weight is now on the back wheels of the base. Now put your feet up and woosh. Gone. He's not even that big of a guy, there are guys with the same body type that are 6ft. Something to think about. I personally love the lounge mode I get when I lean way back, toss my feet up and just melt into my chair. I fall asleep like that constantly and wake up feeling great.

Much prefer my older Steelcase chair over the new purchased this Christmas. Padding is way to thin and with the padding I added, now the chair is too high (I'm tall and still can't get the chair to lower sufficiently to have my legs parallel to the ground), can't recline as far as I'm used to to stretch my spine, too FEW controls for adjustments, arms don't pull out enough to offer a long arm like me much support, lumbar doesn't seem as aggressive as before (not a good thing IMO). The good? Love the colour (bright green) and the headrest adjustability which was the major factor in my decision to move to this chair, though I would prefer to have bought the old Leap with the added headrest for the almost perfect office chair.

@steelcase
@steelcase Ай бұрын
Hi! We recommend making sure your Gesture's recline tension is adjusted and also that you turn off any backlock so that the chair is better able to support you. Unlike traditional office chairs, Gesture's lumbar energy comes primarily from the core equalizer function and 3D LiveBack technology. This is integrated into the foundational Gesture back design, and is why when you're seated as far back in the chair as possible the shape of the Gesture inner back conforms to the healthy "S" shape of your spine - even during recline. The additional lumbar adjustment builds upon the same core equalizer and 3D LiveBack to provide more additional targeted support, allowing you to dial in a more precise bolster where ever you need it most.

I'm 6' 1, and for me: this chair's pivot point at the upper back was too high. I like to lean back over the lumbar area, not get pressed down by the upper back. In my opinion (I tried 5 chairs today), this isn't as good as the Leap, and the Leap should adjust the lumbar pressure on both sides, not just the right. The torque seems skewed to me, though it was possibly the backstrap (at low position it was coming off). I'm thinking to get the Criterion, maybe as a stool for the standing desk, but you can't customize it on their website... I guess it's just not in demand. I loved the Amia for pretty much putting me to sleep, though you can't tilt the thing forward. The Think sucked in terms adjustability and "sliding", and it seems you either get an automatic / rocking chair, or you get forward tilt and manual everything, but not both. I think I would prefer manual adjustability, even if I have to move around a bit more / especially with a standing desk that can go to any low/high height.

Bad chair for tall people. The video states the base should be extended to be 2-3 inches from the back of your knees, which the chair is unable to do. It's fully extended and there is a full 6" between the chair and the back of my knees. The chair back also has no height adjustment. In the video the women's shoulders are even with the chair. My shoulders are about 8 inches above the top. I feel like I'm about to fall out of this chair when I lean all the way back. Other than that, the rest of the adjustments have been great. The only brand that has a far superior built in headrest is Neutral Posture, their headrests have incredible adjustability and support.
