I just ordered a smaller size ninja foodie. I hope I can get those kind of results with it. In my hotel room!!! I like the technique you use with the thermal pen!!! That explains why I’m not hitting the temperatures I’m looking for withdrawing nice and slow and watching the readings is definitely the way to go!!! Thanks

John, you rock!!! I decided to buy a Ninja Foodi instead of other options based on this video. And, the first thing I made was, of course, a ribeye steak. Re: "I'm living out of a hotel room for work 8 days at a time, and have ... " WOW ! (imo) That is a rather an awesome statement, in and of itself Kyle, or, ... an interesting 'style', ... if you will, a sort of "sub-component" commentary to this overall ("well done") presentation by John Sanders. (In all seriousness Kyle - {and btw one of my most recent "bosses" had that name} - you cold prob' present a lot of very interesting perspectives, and mini-tutors, if not major ones, on your own, as your experience-orientated "take" on things is so unique, ... and perhaps in these 'current days', especially.) ;-) Respectively, and with thanks, to both John Sanders, and yourself. Salutations, and Salad-ations, ... corny, but, ... imo, 'heal-thy'.

I had this same exact steak down to the thickness, cut, brand, choice type, watched another air fryer steak video and for some reason the woman said she did hers 12 minutes on each side...and hers looked a bit thinner..... I did 10 minutes on the first side of mine and THANK GOODNESS my intuition told me to check out the doneness when it was only 3-4 minutes into the 2nd side...... turned out perfect and definitely would've been overcooked if had left it in for the last 6 minutes. Moral of the story: Watch more than one video when trying a new cooking skill/technique, as your 13 minute timing was far more accurate for my device/meat. Almost ruined a costly piece of meat....which would've been even more depressing than cooking a nice meal for myself only on Valentines day to begin with LOL

I use Philips XXL Airfryer and i has never eaten better steaks ever then i make in my airfryer. But it is essential to use a termometer. When i cook ground beef steak i use aprox 8 min, 200 celcius (european scale). And from there use a termometer to find the right core temperature. About 70 celcius to get medium. Would indeed recommend all to use Airfryer if one would make a "perfect" steak.

@@JohnSanders I don't know if you like to eat beans...I love them. I just got through making a pot of Great Northern beans that taste great in the Ninja Foodi. About a pound and a half of Great Northern dry beans, a package from Walmart of Smoked Pork Neck, half of chopped up onion, one good size chopped up Jalapeno Pepper, salt, pepper, a dash of Cumin, a few shakes of Italian Seasoning, one 4 cup of chicken broth, added 2 cups of water...could go to three....and pressure cooked it for an hour and a half and did a pressure release at 30 minutes...can do earlier...but I forgot. The meat just falls of the smoked pork neck. I use smoked port necks instead of ham hocks because I don't like all of the fat with ham hocks. Taste really good...don't forget cornbread.

Looks fantastic. I want to give this a try ASAP! I have the exact same ninja foodi! I notice you’re using broil, have you ever tried the air fry feature with a steak? If so how does that compare?

That looks delicious. I’ve used my Vortex a few times now, and wow, there’s a learning curve as to time. Even though my regular oven has convection, the Vortex cooks it way faster. I tried making brownies, and used the temp suggested in the Vortex guide, but it didn’t work too well. Outside overdone and middle underdone in 20 minutes. Next time I’ll lower the temp.

Hey John! I'm new to the Foodi fam (like 2 days in) and I've only made Tyson chicken patties with the air fryer. This may be a silly question, but when you use the broil function... are you required to select a temp like you would on the air fryer setting? I'm looking forward to cooking a ribeye as you prepared it, but I'm super curious about the broil function in general. Also, I subscribed, so I hope you plan on posting more Foodi videos in 2021!
@JohnSanders

The broil function is not adjustable but it works really well... just use a instant read thermometer to get your perfect temp and this will be one of the best steaks you've ever ate...I guarantee it!!! Thanks for subscribing and please let me know what you think of the steak!!!

I’ve seen in other videos about steaks that nothing compares to sous vide methods which cook the meat to precise temperature through and through in a plastic bag and then remove the bag and grill the outside briefly at the end. Any views about this?

Some of my earlier videos are on this and I will say I love what it does, it fits so edge to edge perfection and I use it quite often but for simplicity and time this method is pretty close... thanks for watching!!!
