In this presentation, Diana Elder, AG, discusses how to analyze DNA matches using two DNA test takers from the same generation. She explains that having two test takers who match the same mystery person can help narrow down the potential relationships. Elder demonstrates using the Shared Centimorgan Project 4.0 tool to enter the amounts of shared DNA from the two test takers. She then examines the resulting list of possible relationships and the accompanying histograms to identify the most statistically probable relationship based on where the two test taker amounts fall within the distribution. Using an example from her own client project, she concludes that a third cousin relationship seems most likely for her mystery match Annie based on the amounts of 81 and 44 centimorgans shared by her two same-generation cousins Gary and Lucrecia.
