Continuing my education as a skydiver, I was able to do a couple coach jumps with Jason Russell of SDC Core (Skydive Chicago). At this point I have about 30 angle fly and tracking jumps under my belt, and I'm starting to get the body position and heading changes. Jason was super cool and let me film the debrief so I wanted to share and hopefully y'all can learning something as well!
As always, I'm not an expert and don't give skydiving advice here. Check with your instructors and get a coach. I'm really only certified to teach basic skydiving skills to new skydivers who have completed AFF but aren't yet licensed.

I really like that you're taking a lesson approach rather than the music-montage angle. I'm also around your level and trying to learn angles so it's very relevant.

Thanks Robert that means a lot. I do the musical montage thing but I thought it would be fun to share what I’m learning as I get more involved in the sport. I thought angle flying would be way easier to learn but it’s been tough!

Just came across your channel last night and really love it! Got my 'A' back in 2001 at skydive chicago but left the sport in 2005. Got current last summer and just ordered a rig, so excited to start jumping! The jumps you guys do look so fun, gotta find a crew like yours

JRuss is a world class skydiving coach. He is lead coach on the world record head down formation attempt this year. You can’t get better coaching than that! I’m happy he let me share, super cool guy 🤙🏻

It’s worth it. I would like to get some more tunnel time as well but it’s such a drive

Yeah I mean I jump on a budget so if it’s between tunnel and the sky, I’d rather jump. However learning something like how to sitfly is something I wanna learn in the tunnel. It’s more dangerous in the sky because of backsliding and you have to make sure you’re perpendicular to jump run. Plus the rate of learning in the tunnel goes waaay up because you can fly 5 minutes at a time and debrief the skill, and do that once in hour if you had the cash. Whereas learning to freefly in the sky 5 minutes of freefall might take all day. It’s all opportunity cost the way I see it now.

Whats the barrel roll for after break off? Blue skies buddy
@PernDog
@PernDog 6 жыл бұрын
To clear the air above you for deployment. All my coaches say adding a barrel roll to your deployment sequence is important, especially with angle flying because less experienced jumpers tend to float out instead of sink out. They might be above you and you definitely don’t wanna deploy your canopy into a space where someone is about to fall through.

is it me, or does your helmet look loose as you exit in the first jump? see how the back doesn't seem to be tight?

It's my home, too. We live about ten minutes away. Find me on FB and we can link up. I usually jump on Mon-Tues, and Saturdays or Sunday in the afternoon. I'm at 240+ jumps and belly fly decently, track okay, and sitfly like an oddly shaped brick with feathers attached.
