A reputable company will tell you the pay range of each position before your interview. I will always say, my pay is negotiable without giving any specific amount.

What does it mean when the hiring manager doesn’t ask you the salary expectation during the interview but instead tells you that he has a meeting with HR about the general compensation for the role and that he will be in touch? Thank you.

Mostly organization that do not ask about salary they already have salary ranges....then you can negotiate when Incase of offer lower than previous or current pay...

Hello mr Wainaina what about if the institution is new how do you go for a research to know the salary of others.? If you and others are the new starters of the institution ,if they were asked how much salary do want to be paid.? How do you answer such question ?
