As per the Akademi, Since this Award is the Second highest Literary award after Jnanapeeth Award, the Book is chosen based on the Literary impact the book delivers and also the contribution of the author/writer towards Literature is considered as prime priority. If you disagree with the opinion of the Akademi, please bring this concern in the right forum with the concerned authorities of the Akademi and can get better clarity on this. @ Saloni Chawla: Interesting Question! There is no written answer to this from the akademi website. For Sahitya akademi main award, you need not submit any book. For Yuva Puraskar, you can choose your best book of any language and apply in that language category. We think there is no barrier that you have to write all books in only 1 language. They will form a committee which will choose the books based on literary content and the author's contribution to the Sahitya field.
