Well said. Just remember that the piece you re hang needs to be plumbed up for the subsequent lengths to butt up too... So you may find you have to trim off a little bit more on the piece you re hang so it can be plumbed up. Well shown on the over lap though.

This doesn't make sense to me. Surely the patterns won't line up if you overlap?

I don't get how your pattern match is going to be perfect if you overlap?

Martin The match won’t be perfect . It gives the illusion of matched though as there is no such thing as a straight corner. Oh and border adhesive will be needed to stick those overlapped corners. Good luck .

cut a 1 inch piece of wallpaper . line it up with the joint on the face of of the chimney breast and bend it round the side and mark the end , this would be the joint if you could bend the paper all the way round . ( which you cant ) drop a plumb line down and mark the btm , this gives you the start position for your piece , hang it and cut it back from the face about 5mm the pattern will match a hell of lot better than they did !

No lining paper? School boy error

That's bad advice, joining paper so close to an outer corner will soon result in a seriously dog-eared mess. And what if the chimney breast front is seriously wavy and uneven like mine? Far too many of these kind of videos always show corners which are so nice and perfect, but it's just not like that in older houses.
