Thanks Michael! Very informative and appreciate the step by step instructions. I have a weed infested St Augustine lawn in south Florida that needs help...I'm hoping the Scott's Weed & Feed will do the trick. I like what you said at the very end about bagging until the weeds are gone instead of mulching the grass. Very good tip as to not spread the weeds around i'm guessing. Thumbs up on this video my man!

BGC Thanks. After taking care of my Mom with dementia for 5 years my once beautiful yard is gone. Im 68 now & trying my best to at least get weeds gone as asap. Funny how fast the weeds take over. Hey BYD, I water my yard first to get the grass and weeds wet. I then spread the weed and feed. It has a lot easier time sticking to the leaves of wet weeds and grass. I don't walk on it for at least 24 hours. After 24 hours, I water the grass again to wash the weed and feed onto the soil so it can soak down into the ground. I found this is a really good method to get rid of clover laying on top of your grass.

Good tip for beginners. Many don't realize the grass must be wet so the product sticks to it. I used Scotts weed and feed a many years when I was a new home owner, but got tired of it and went the spray route and never looked back. BYD, I used that Scotts Wizz with some Lesco Starter fertilizer and it worked flawlessly. Thanks again for the tip on that little machine. I was using a 20 year Scotts non battery unit and the Wizz just retired it.

hey Mike great video on fertilizer treatment I'm working in a complex with 39 huge houses with a lot of shrub and bushes. I have been treating the lawns with fertilizer and I just started the treatment of weed and feed that I got from siteone like I said there are 39 homes in here so far I have 5 I'm trying more. Right now I'm fighting with one home that is always overrun with weeds so this is a good video I appreciate it keep them coming

GAG LAWNCARE thanks for following 👍🏾, but as a contractor I’d change my approach on those properties. I’d really ramp up a Pre Emergent program and use products like Quinclorac 75 DF or Drive or a MSMA product to really run those weeds out. Check out a growth regulator to slow that growth of turf and then you can use a single basic nutrition fert like 24-0-11. The weed and feed is ok for a house or two but a 39 house volume may need to be treated differently because they all won’t react the same to that weed and feed. I’ll be dropping another video late tonight so turn on notification 👍🏾

Watch these videos on this channel. There is one where he mentions crabgrass and weed & feed products and Quinclorac that taught me a lot. Most fall weed & feed products that boast that they kill crabgrass in the late fall are just shams, as BYD said in that video. Crabgrass is a warm season weed and typically it dies off about the first frost, so although you may be paying for weed control, they are relying on the weather more than the herbicides in the product to kill warm season weeds. To the untrained eye the amounts of herbicide in these products is just numbers with no meaning, but they are lowball amounts. The best time to kill weeds is when they are young and actively growing. In the fall, crabgrass is very mature is tough to kill. That is why I love Quinclorac, which BYD taught me. I put it down last fall when the crabgrass was mature and only put it down at half strength as a split application because I had new seed down and I was trying too hard to be safe, but even at half strength the Quinclorac killed my mature crabgrass. If you do not know what kind of grass you have, or have very little grass, look up "Lawn Care Academy" and look through the warm and cool season grasses, figure out which will work in your lawn based on where you live and the amount of sunlight you get, and start from there. I strongly recommend sticking with grass types that spread without over seeding, meaning they spread by stolons (above ground runners/creepers) or rhizomes (similar to stolons, but they grow just below the dirt laterally), or both. Bermuda grass, Zoysia grass, Kentucky Blue grass and some others are very popular. This way, when you kill weeds and create a spot in the lawn that needs to fill in, you will not need to worry about seeding each and every time because these other grasses will spread into these areas on their own. And this next steps is VERY important - get s soil test so you can correct the pH and add the right amount of nutrients to have a healthy lawn. A dense, healthy lawn is the #1 way to combat weeds as Mother Nature is modest - she doesn't like to be naked and if you leave bare spots, weeds will fill in, so fill it with grass instead to deter weeds. The next best way is through pre-emergence herbicides which kill seeds as they are germinating, and lastly, through post-emergence herbicides that kill plants after they have germinated and have emerged above the soil.

Make sure you check them labels. Most of Scott's weed and feed will kill Bermuda. That weed and feed³ featured in this video is the only specific for Bermuda. Read your labels "Scott's Turf Builder Weed and Feed³". It's gotta have that small (³).

Love my Wizz spreader. It was the only thing I trusted to put down my Zenith Zoysia seed because it was so tiny. Using a push/broadcast spreader would not have worked with such tiny seed. I thought birds may be a problem, but they were not interested in such tiny seed. However the creatures that took my seed were ants. I have a photo where ants had collected a few hundred seed and added it to the pile of sand and dirt around their hole...that just made me laugh that ants were the threat to my seed, not the birds. (shaking my head).

See what’s everyone else is charging on your area. Profits are falling because cost to get is going up. With me it’s an add on with my regular lawn customers. You’ll make way more profit with liquid weed kill for lawns vs Granular. So if you’re only doing a few lawns you won’t make as much.

Michael Salcido BYD uses an iPhone 6, iPhone 6s Plus and a IPhone 10 in rotation to record. I use a free app to edit my on videos. Just me and BYD jr time to time 😀
