Thanks for this video. The instructions that came with the drill were useless. The idea of placing the rack inside of the collar first is genius and saved me a lot of frustration.

Thank you I just purchased this after doing some homework and got a good price. Your video will be my guide to assemble as the instructions are poor. I often joke that their are Chinese engineers working with the people writing the instructions laughing at ways to ruin an American Man's weekend writing by writing bad instructions. You Sir are their nemesis...lolo...Thanks again.

I noticed you just pushed the chuck on by hand; why do others say to use a mallet or pull down on a piece of wood? I know it’s friction-based. Now I am worried that my check didn’t go beyond the lip of the post-but now I’m thinking that isn’t necessary. Any thoughts? Thanks for the video! (I am just now connecting the chuck and using my Bilt Hard 13” drill press. It works great!

Good question. From my experience the taper on the drill chuck and the quill are so close that they fight tight if they are both very clean. It won't hurt anything to bop t with a mallet or press it down on soft wood. Just sticking it in is temporary situation. Everything you drill will force the drill chuck into the quill tighter.. Hello Greg. I sold my drill press when I closed my shop and man do I miss it. Mine was a 6 foot and I Anchored it to the floor I never had any trouble until one of my guys tipped it over then it was anchored after that. With that being on a work bench I would anchor it down for sure.

Hey Den. Hope all is well. I used to have a metal fab shop with all the equipment, mill, lathe, TIG, MIG, full size drill press, 8'x4' welding table, etc. That table weighed about 1500 lbs. I sold it all about 10 years ago. Now I could use the stuff I sold. LOL. I agree with anchoring that top heavy drill press. You are a mind reader, that's the next video.

Thanks for the vid. Just picked up one of the last floor models of this as they discontinued it and it was missing quite a few knobs and and the pulley but you helped me figure out what i needed. got it at a steal though for $120! How's yours holding up?

That's a nice addition to Your shop. How big a bit can You put in the chuck? That H D metal table is a work horse for You isn't it. Everybody ought to have one in their shop. Hope You have many Healthy Year's to use Your Drill Press.

Thanks MT. Yeah, that metal table is a beast. The drill press can accept up to a 16 mm bit so, basically 5/8 inch.

GB 5/8" is a pretty big bit. I wish I had a couple of Metal Tables like Yours. There is fellow camper with a lot of good idea's his name is Keith Gee check his channel out. Stay Safe.

What is the 6" wedge with the hole at one end for?...I just put one together and had this left...WTF? I saw yours laying on the table before you put it together.

That is a wedge drift to drive the drill chuck out of the quill. Run the quill down and you will see a slot for the drift. Put the drift in and hit the large end with a hammer and the chuck should drop out. Hope thisi makes sense. Good luck.

Wouldn't it be a 26 inch diameter circle? It's 13" from the drill bit to the post?

I just went out and measured it again. The distance from the center of the drill to the post is 6 1/2 inches. So it will work on a 13 inch diameter object. Thanks for watching.
