That’s a great idea. I did freeze it and I used it a few months ago and it still looked beautiful, pretty close to the original color.

You can just pile up the wet papers and sit outside. When they are dry they come right apart. I sort of carefully lay them cattycorner to each other and leave em. I'm lazy. 😁

Hi Liz! WOW! Your papers and things are so pretty! That color is gorgeous!! I’m new to the whole junk journaling thing. Yes I know, I’m the only crafter who didn’t know half this stuff. My crafting has always been diying, thrift flips, furniture refinishing and stuff like that. I just recently got into junk journaling. I absolutely love it! But I’ve got lots to learn. When I did my avocado dying I didn’t use the pits/seeds bc I didn’t know to. And I didn’t know the baking soda trick either. I just thought boil my skins and that’s that, what more is there to know right? Well like I said, I’m still learning. So I’m so glad I watched your video here. That deep pink is so pretty. Mine turned out really pretty but needless to say it is a light pink. So I’ve got more skins and seeds drying and I’m going to make a new batch and use your method. I’ll have that deep pink color and that excites me! There is so much to learn. Also something I’ve learned from you and others is that I can turn my oven up a bit higher when drying my papers. I would dry mine on 250 at the highest but I realize I can go a bit higher. That will make things go faster which will be really nice too. Okay, I’ve blabbed enough. Thank you my dear. ❤️💜💚

I’ll do happy you found my video helpful. There is definitely a ton to learn about junk journaling. I’m learning as well. I hope you enjoy the process of dying the papers. I find out pretty relaxing. I’ve also heard that you can let your papers dry outside (if it’s warm out.) that’s something I’m going to try when it starts to warm up. That will definitely help with the electric and gas bill. ☺️ Happy junk journaling ❣️

Thanks for watching. Lol, yeah the oven on all day wouldn’t be worth the the heat in the house. You could probably hang the papers or lay them out to dry. I’m pretty sure the heat would dry them (if there’s not too much humidity!) 😬🫣

I never dry out avocado peels or seeds. I use them fresh or frozen. I use the green type off avo (it is still green when ripe). I use baking soda with copy, ledger, feint lined and book paper and 120, 160, 200, 250 & 300gsm cardstock as well as waterpaint and mixed media paper and doilies and envelopes.... I don't soak the paper in the dye I just pour the liquid in a spray bottle and lay the sheets down on top of one another, (1 by 1) and spray each paper before laying down the next. Some wetter than others. Then I leave them in stacks of about 15 in the Sun and turn them over from time to time until dry. I do NOT bake them in the oven. And i get a terracotta colour! The wetter I make the paper the darker the colour!! I😁😃 Who said you MUST have red avo's? oh and I use about 8 avo skins & seeds with 750ml to 1 liter of water with 2 teaspoons of baking soda and boil it for 25 - 30 minutes. 👍🏻👍🏻

Hello Your video was great seeing the process. Before watching your video I watched another channels process for this and just finished dying loads of papers. They are so pretty. I have a small area and only a toaster oven but I made it work. I was very curious if you have used any of your frozen leftover dye yet? I have lots of dye left and was hoping to save it somehow to use another day. Hopefully I can see your reply soon so I’ll know what to do with it . Thanks for a great video. ☺️

Hi. I am so happy to hear you enjoyed the video. That is awesome that you had a successful paper dying session. 🫶🏼 Did you enjoy the process? I haven’t had to avocado dye any paper since. But, I’m going to pull the dye out of the freezer now and do some. I will let you know how it turns out soon. 😉 Have a beautiful Sunday.

Nice! I have a bunch of avocado skins and pits in the freezer that I have been accumulating for a while. Have you ever just let any air dry? I just wonder how much of the color variation is due to the baking. I have done it before without the baking soda but so long ago that I don’t remember. Thanks for the tutorial!!

If you put them in the sun when they are wet and let them dry from sunshine, they get darker. I didn’t use baking soda and they not only got really dark but have stayed that way for well over a year! Stenciling works great too! Great video. Thanks for sharing Liz

I just lay them out on a plastic table cloth and let dry. They can overlap. I just can’t justify the oven being on for it. Tea and coffee do the same. You can get decorative plastic table cloths for cheap at garage sales. It leaves designs on the paper.

I would love to do it that way. I have even purchase doilies and lace to make designs on the papers but I’m worried my puppy will want to eat the coffee dyed paper if I have it on the table in the house. 😬 Maybe I will try to put it outside. Thanks for the motivation to try it another way❣️

If you leave the papers soaking for 10-20 minutes wouldn’t the paper rip?
@betterbuyswithliz6466
@betterbuyswithliz6466 6 ай бұрын
I found that the thinner papers can rip more easily. You have to be gentle while going through the process of taking the pages out of the water. I have seen people just submerge the paper and then take it out right after. They don’t let them soak at all and the pages still turned out great.
@swannwillow9476

PLEASE READ MY INITIAL COMMENT FIRST. You can layer plastic stencils or plastic doilies between the sheets of paper (in a stack) and put them in the sun or leave them overnight inside the house... And when they're dry you can see the patterns of the stencils and doilies on the paper. I dye about 100 A4 sheets of paper and I have about a quarter of the initial amount of liquid i started with (see my initial comment). You can keep the remaining dye in a plastic bottle at room temperature - cool, dry, dark area (just add a few drops of 90% rubbing alcohol to every 500ml) for up to 2 months. Oh, if you DON'T add the baking soda, the paper will eventually loose the original colour and turn a muddy colour. I've done this many-many times. Happy crafting!
