Love these tips. I went from a Shopaholic to a more minimalist.... I'm not a total minimalist, I'm just way more practical now. I love owning less, I love seeing NO CLUTTER. We have gone room by room SEVERAL times in the last 2 years and have downsized by 70 percent or more. I am so happy.

Thank you! That is how it is for us, we are constantly finding more and more items we don't use. Congratulations of downsizing, I bet that feels amazing. I hope you have a great day. 💛

To help with decision fatigue I do a few different things. One is having clear goals ahead of time, and containers as space limitations. If I'm really stuck I'll ask myself a few questions, like, "Would I buy this again?" "Would I even remember I have it?" "What would I tell a friend facing the same decision."

I find routines and simplification to lessen the number of decisions per day made a huge difference for me. I also like to make a few morning decisions the previous evening when I'm already tired so I can start my day off slower.

Sometimes when decluttering I find it helpful to imagine you are explaining to another person why I would keep something. If I end up saying things like because I might..., because I could, maybe I will... then I know I should get rid of it. I want to have a specific reason and purpose for keeping it. Sometime it’s easy to justify things to yourself but when I imagine saying it to someone else I find it helpful when making decisions🙂

That helps me too, because I always know what I would say to/about someone else. I find it easier to be ruthless when helping someone instead of myself.

Great tips! I've made the mistake of keeping a bag of items I wanted to declutter in my room and I ended up going through the bag again changing my mind on a few items. Really important to get those items out of sight to avoid that!

I feel the same way, the quicker the items are gone the better. I hope you have a great day! 😀

I find it overwhelming to think of decluttering as a one-time thing that I have to spend lots of time on. Instead, when I find myself thinking "I could get rid of that', I literally stop and put that thing in the donation box right then. It's more like "clean as you go", than spending hours on a huge mess. It adds up over time.

I feel the same way, that is mostly how I declutter now. Especially clothes! If I take something off because I don't like the way it looks I donate it instead of hang it back up. Great tip Thank you!

I experienced that quite a few times when decluttering. Each time I didn't stop, I later regretted it. I either kept to much or parted with stuff I that we really did need.

Slow but sure I’m decluttering every room and closest. Morning is best for me too. I’m getting ready to move out of state, so I need to make sure I only take what I really want to keep.

Great video Shannon! Your tips are so good! I agree that trying to tackle too much at once can be the wrong approach. I like Joshua Becker's method of starting with an area that is relatively easy to declutter first. Then you will begin to feel successful and will have the momentum to move to the next area. Room by room is great, as long as you take your time! 🤗💛

Thank you Robin! I agree with that once you have even a small amount of success it fuels the fire to move on and do more decluttering. I have enjoyed all of your decluttering videos too! I hope you are having a great week. 😀

Thank you for sharing your very useful tips. Your Tip No.1 I follow for sure. I get so overwhelmed even thinking about tearing apart the whole house at once. My method is to keep up my regular daily clean chore schedule; and tackle one room at a time for decluttering until its done; even if more than one day. I also try and remove the items asap.

We think alike! The thought of pulling the house apart definitely puts me off decluttering, that is why small sections at a time is the way to go for me. I hope you have a great week. 😀

When I clean out my closet, I put the things in a bag and then I let the bag sit in my office. I know what's in there and I give myself the chance to "save" anything in it for about a week. Sometimes I give away things that really look good hanging in my closet, but when I put them on, they don't look too good, so I might reconsider them. I've taken blouses from the bag and tried them on after a week or so, and then reconfirm giving them away. I've even put one back in my closet, then removed it again.

That is good you can make sure you don't want the items before you donate them, then you know you won't regret anything. Great idea!
