Many many independent, licensed, permitted, college degreed financial advisors are having their own youtube channels these days, as a means of advertising their services and educating people. That does not negate your opinion. Nor does it cancel out your right to your opinion on the matter. I am simply typing, without hyperbolization and without any all caps lock typeage, that there are, in fact, other and varied actually legitimate finance tubers out here on the tubes, covering various aspects of personal finance, whether tax or investing or entrepreneurship or estate and trust planning or legal tax avoidance tactics, et cetera, et cetera.

Why everyone is so agitated over inflation and inflation data baffles me. Inflation has always existed, and individuals have used investments to combat it. For example, the stock market return always outperforms inflation. I heard of someone who invested $121k in October of last year and increased their portfolio by more than $400k. I'm looking for recommendations that will provide similar return.

I don't really blame people who panic. Lack of information can be a big hurdle. I've been making more than $200k passively by just investing through an advisor, and I don't have to do much work. Inflation or no inflation, my finances remain secure. So I really don't blame people who panic.
@ThomasHeintz

True. I first came across investing in the market in 2019. Already stashed about $460k in savings then, and the free money from the Government was pouring in, increasing inflation rate. I just got an advisor and kept the money there, just because I didn't want to keep the value of the money depreciating in the bank. Tbh, it's the best investment decision I've made since then.

The IRS encourages you to use every legal route to lower your tax liability. The tax laws are made with this in mind. They are encouraging behaviors like investing in stocks, holding for longer than a year, opening retirement accounts, using employer health spending accounts etc. The incentive to do those things is lower tax bills.

Brian, as a self-employed entrepreneur, in this country there’s a saying I ALWAYS tell my business associates and that is…It’s not hard to make money in this country, it’s hard to keep it! I think that your tax saving tips are outstanding, but I would have liked for you to have included the many advantages of being self-employed and especially the many tax advantages there are when investing in Real Estate. After all it’s not just about lowering your taxes but also about building assets. Doing both is dependent on having/knowing the correct information to legally use the system of IRS regulations to your advantage.

Why do I need to pay taxes well y'all proceed to complain the roads aren't good, snow isnt plowed on time, no public-school teachers available, no free college, no free health care...I can keep the list going. I can expand on this issue bcuz I was in public service and saw firsthand idiots who don't support proper tax allocations. But then people are openly donating to politicians who actually move the tax money around to favor themselves and the private corporations backing them. At the end of the day y'all just played yourselves.
@krunchyapples
@krunchyapples Жыл бұрын
Because you and I both know that the majority of our taxes don't actually do any of that crap. It all either gets wasted on stupid projects that don't actually accomplish anything that was set out to do, gets spent on the administrative costs of a copiously bloated bureaucratic system, or is used in $1.7 trillion 5000 page omnibus spending bills that no one asked for which *somehow* end up making the crooks and criminals in DC richer because most people don't grasp how much of a stranglehold lobbyists have on that god forsaken place. So yea, unless the people actually start getting some real representation from our government I do not believe they deserve a single dime.

@@monkeypolicd the problem is those in charge of our tax dollars make sure the majority goes to them, their friends, families (in forms of contracts etc) and back to their party. People don't even have to donate to these idiots directly because we are paying into a corrupt broken system that's why people are sick of it. And its on all sides of the board. Decent politicians and government officials don't exist. Money and power corrupts them all even if they started out with great intentions.

Best advice for self employed is get a CPA. Will only cost a few hundred a year and they will help you setup the best structure for your specific situation. E.g. going with an S-Corp election is generally a good way to save on taxes, but for some will just add work/expense w/o any real benefits. The CPA will also keep up on changes and new things as well as now you have someone to talk to the IRS for you if that is ever needed.

One thing I did change was my W-4. Found out there was a change a few years ago that made it easier to adjust your taxes if you have a working spouse. Both my wife and I are now taxed at the higher rate. Seriously, if you have a working spouse, make sure you check to see if you indicated this on your W-4, especially if you find you owe money each year and wonder why they are not taking enough taxes out of your paycheck.

Regarding the 1099-B, more people need to be informed that those with wash sales, especially numerous wash sales, can't just rely on it, you have to report your individual trades.

Great info. The Dependent Care FSA was one I hadn't heard of before. I could see that one thing saving us a few thousand a year in taxes for school expenses, babysitters, aftercare, after school programs, and day camps.

It’s not that useful, the contribution limit is $2,000 a year which is less than i pay in a month. Also you can just deduct it when you do your taxes which you’re going to have to do anyway because you can only set aside $2,000 through the FSA

Another issue, is you have to report every dollar you gave and to whom. So unless you want to report your babysitter income (taxes on the cash), out of luck.

I liked your videos last year, glad to see you poping back up in my feed. Unfortunatly, most of this won't apply to me, no dependents, no investments and no health expenses outside of company sponsered plan costs, already doing 401k, still owe more money then I think is fair. Might be able to use some of the commuter stuff though. Thanks :)

Something that I've seen happen is that the tax rates change but employees don't know that it's happened. So they've worked an entire year with the wrong withholdings and end up owing money when they're typically used to receiving a refund.
