Thanks. you have nicely explained the backtesting method and analysis of back-test results. I back tested every single technical strategy available in trading view, over a period of last 20 years and found that buy and hold strategy in bank nifty has given over 4000% returns, while the best of technical strategy has hardly given 40-50% overall returns over 20 years

Finally! I now know how the pros backtest strategies. Now I just hope that I can learn how to code these strategies myself. I am looking forward to the day VRD Nation uploads that video as well. Hey, it would be great to have more lessons on creating strategies and other aspects of back testing those strategies.

I think there is a catch in terms of percentage. For example, if i entered at 100 and it shot upto 200, it says +100% and if it crashed from 200 to 100 it says -50% (techinically speaking) but we lost all our gains. And if it crashed further to 0, it says -100% but we have lost 200 (200% of our capital), more than our capital of 100.

Please make more of these videos there are people who appreciates your efforts

Answer to your question, "Can we have a drawdown bigger than our initial capital?" is, "YES, it's possible. We could have earned 500% of our initial capital and then somewhere in the middle of the back-testing period, we could have lost half of it."

Theoretically we can lose more than 3 lakhs just like there's possibility of unlimited loss theoretically when shorting. In reality if the trade goes wrong, the exchange/broker will liquidate us when we already incur a loss equal to our account size and our position will be exited so that exchange/broker don't lose their money. Ofc liquidation price will depend on Leverage as well. Amazing video! Waiting for more.
