Been struggling with a 1225 grams bottom heavy bat (2 grip didnt really help)...couple of days ago i was watching the highlights of klaasen's 100 vs england in the WC and noticed the huge thickness at the top of his bat handle... then i cut few pieces of grips and added to the tip of the handle (didnt feel much difference) then i added about 65 gram of weight to the tip using plastic cap (1290 grams after) and boy the never felt such fast pickup and i can literally feel the balance in my bat swing, so smooth... then went on to the internet if anyone has ever done this before. Bam found you...keep up the good work. Works like a charm

I always said this to many players for last 40+ yrs add a grip n balance it out.... But who can change da mentality of players who got logic of their own.... Grt piece of advice buddy 👏

Thank you for this tip..it really really works..I have a few bottom heavy bats and after following your tip they became very very easy when picking up as the center of mass shifts towards to the top making the bat very well balanced ..Just trying to understand are there any downsides to this?

Don’t think there’s any down side. Only thing I can think of is, you will have no work for the leftover grip :-)

My bat is bottom heavy as per my friend but there is little gap between the hands (just like Faf Duplesis) and maybe that balances out for me. I have no issue in handling the bat. What is your comment on this?

Thanks for this and im one of those that doesn’t like a double grip but do you think a piece of grip as small as that will help?

Yes, the best way to do is to check yourself. If you still can't find the balance, add one more piece of grip. And it will sort the balance for you :-)

Is it possible to add small lead weight to the end of the handle, lead is heavy, car tire balancing use it, it will not damage the cricket ball since it is only near the top of the handle. Also it is a very soft metal?

Metal cannot be used in cricket bats. Especially by professional cricketers. But for gully cricket or for association games where no one checks the bat. I think it shouldn’t be a problem

How to make evenly balanced bat bit of bottom heavy? Have a bat with an exquisite ping but it's evenly balanced which doesn't suit me as I've always played with bottom heavy bats.

Add a toe guard if you do not have one, oil the bat, tread it, tape at the bottom. This will Make it bottom heavy. Those are the option to make them heavy'

A thin bottom cannot be made stronger. Even if you have a thick bottom it will break if you keep hitting the bottom, only thing is that thicker bottom will delay the breaking process. Why not use middle of the bat? ;-)

I have one doubt u said to add a grip , as it would be like a piece of grip u did or a full bat grip

If someone likes double grip they can go with double grip. But many don’t like double grip that’s when you use a piece of grip.. The trick is especially for people who don’t like double grip
