You should resistance train and have a mobility routine for longevity and injury resistance. calf ankle and hip mobility are the most appropriate. It's harder to tear a muscle that you have a lot of mobility in.

Damn this video is definitely a good one for me. I’m 38 and I still skate a lot but I haven’t been taking care of my health lately. I think it’s time to get back to a healthy lifestyle again so I can keep skating as long as possible.

I'm 32 still skating too, what I do is skate 2 or 3 days a week resting a day between each session, that way your legs and feet wont be to sore.

Great video, it's nice that self-care is becoming more prevalent in skateboarding. I'm a dad and have ADHD so it's really hard for me to get this organized and stick with it, but I've found that if I have a few core "values" or whatever it makes me feel better. So, I try to incorporate stretching, staying away from refined sugars and salty snacks, and drinking plenty of water into my day, and try to get out for at least a short walk or bike ride even if the weather sucks. If you're younger, start taking care of yourself now and build those habits. I'm 35 and living with the body and choices of a kid who didn't think he'd make it to 30. It's a lot more work to take care of myself now than it should be and I wish someone had told me that.

I just got back into skating from an ACL tear/surgery/etc. I think my biggest roadblock to skating is getting over the mental fear of retearing and I think I sabotage myself by not taking care of myself as good as I used to. More wellness and fitness types of videos would be awesome! Not necessarily because I don’t know what to do, but mainly because seeing KZfaqrs I enjoy partake in things of the sort helps to inspire me to get back to it and take care of myself again. This was awesome! Live forever, man!

I was surprised to hear that you only skate about twice a week. I don’t get to ride much more than that either with my job and family responsibilities. My late night street spot just became a busy too, so I’m antsy about trying to get something to replace it. It’s two hours of exercise in my week I no longer have. My biggest health gain came from staying on my fiber game. Fruit and grain fiber has helped a lot and I feel so much better than I used to. At 45 I actually feel better today than I remember feeling 10+ years ago.

@Zack Dowdy - question for ya, you take fish oil, epa AND omega 3 separately? I was looking for some supplements and find that there are a lot that combine them. such as "Fish oil + omega 3" or "omega 3 + epa+DHA" and so on. And what's "shinemune"? thanks and awesome content, do you what you gotta do to stick around as long as you can to output the good stuff that you do, dude. be well!

Could you maybe tell me what the microdosing does for you? As in; does it give you more focus or a happy feeling? And also, are you allowed to drive while microdosing? 😅 I was just wondering since i'm not familiar with any of this stuff but i'm willing to give it a go to see if it has any benefits for me. Thanks for the amazing video dude!

I'd ditch all those pills and supplements and just eat well, but looking after yourself is excellent, not just for physical health, but for your mind too. I've recently stopped drinking after abusing my liver hard for 20 years. Not only have I gained so much more time from not being hungover, but I'm much happier too (I've never been particularly unhappy though!).

Absolutely true, takes some time to realise the being dependent specific external material to feel better, just will be paid by feeling bad later. So if theres not a doctor telling you "you should take this medicine, or your condition is getting worse" you maybe should think twice if you really wanna depend on that. And especially on the microdose thing, i couldn't find any proof of positive effects. Even more i find studies and proves of negative effects. So weird what people willingly do to their body.

36yo here, i run 6km 6 days a week, lift 5 days a week, walk my dog like everyday, jump rope 4 days a week, skate 5 days a week on average. Sunday day off, i do absolutely NOTHING just lay down all day. Supps i take fish oil, vitamin C, zinc, mg, ginger, i dont watch my diet a lot, i eat plenty of crap, used to eat a whole batman pizza once a week when LC was still selling those lol. I have not gained weight, still 76kg 6ft. Thinking about dropping alcohol 100% just because im worried about my protein absorption lol. Results: Best shape i have ever been in my life, i mean i really miss recovering fast from injuries when i was 20, but overall im much healthier now.

@@jakemirbegian work like 6 hours a day and some more at home, but i dont have a gf, sometimes i turn down offers friday night because i need to skate saturday early in the morning, last couple of weeks i wake up at 6am to go skate until 12, thats like 4 hours of NON STOP skating after that i run 6km. On the weekdays i only skate like 1 maybe 1.5 hours, skating is by far the hardest and takes a huge toll. Sometimes it feels like hell but when i skate i feel awesome so all the extra work is worth it. When i was 25 i had a gf and depressed almost got to 90kg, i rather live thru this hell than go back.
