Did you actually watch the last copa america final? How did they torture neymar and his teammates! How skillful neymar was in that game! Neymar and his teammates played far far better than argentina team. Argentina does not deserve the copa america trophy.

The way the youngsters fight for him and give their last drop of sweat for him is genuinely inspirational. When Lio gets unfairly tackled the entire team goes ballistic as if it was their mother being hit. That kind of love, admiration, and respect cannot be asked for, ordered, or demanded, it can only be earned. And the way Messi has won the hearts of not just his teammates, but a big chunk of the entire sports world, is by far his most significant accomplishment, regardless of his countless accolades.

That is what I witness when people compare him to Maradona. That is a bridge too far. MAradona had so much more to offer...and some aspects are keydifferences. Messi would have never come as far with Argentina of 1986 nor 1990 or Napoli from 1985-1990 due to these differences. ANd still: DiStefano and Pele were may be even better (I nevber saw them but those who did ar enot so sure about Maradoan being better than these two....). Why isnt it enough to say that Messi is the best player of this millennium. Why the need for a goat? Why not say: Pele the best of the 60s, Cruijff of the 70s till 77. Maradona from 78-1991, then a load of players till 2007 and then MEssi and Ronaldo the best from 2007-2022. I personally do not like Ronaldo a bit but he needs to be considered among the best of this millenium. Not a natural one, but may be we should give him MORE respect and not less because of all the work he puts in it. Yes, I realise that with such an arrogance and rightout childish behaviour, it is difficult to remain objective. I personally like Messi a lot better but still...

Why are people making up things about him to make him even greater. I mean no one listens to anything Messi says. Like most footballplayers they have got nothing to say. It is like: "You are happy with your goals" Real ansers "Yeah, I did great today!" Answer given "It is a treameffort, I would be nothing without my team." I'll stop there. The list of these completely hollow, robotic remarks is on every footballers lips. Footballers are renowned (if they are good) for their skills in the pitch. Off the pitch? How is it interesting at all. Just humans. Not great philiosphers with the exception of a few. Socratres (1980s Brazil) comes to mind as a particulary bright individual.

When people says Cristiano Ronaldo is a better charismatic player or a better men team I always thought that is a real bullshit...Leo Messi gives everything to his teams and for his teammates, he's a real football player and I'm blessed to have seen this man play football, he's for many reasons the best player of all time and i think the best demonstration is that he never says anything about the words of Maradona or Pele who denigrates him sometimes, he always replied on the pitch. Messi received so much hate especially when Argentina were in shambles he was getting all the hate the criticism and the blame despite his performances on the pitch and all he did for Argentina. Hmmmm....yes well. he is no leader and he just is never one in the field to battle when that kind of play is needed. I understand people over here ar efans of Messi and I like hjim a lot. It is difficult no to like him due to character and exceptional, standout skills. But may be this is tocuhing some nerves over here but go wathc MAradona and see how he was there, always, 90 minutes, going in front of the fight, never giving up, never complaining about absurd attacks on his legs. Standing up quickly and with his moves speeding up the game unexpectadly ALSO because he would carry on where others wouldn't or couldn't. It is really inspiring to wathc. So people say: Maradona won with basd teams. That is only partially true: those teams became better because Maradona, not just because he was the bet player in that time but also because he was a warrior> you just cannot say anything similar about Messi.

@@zogtye They don't degrade it, but they correctly point out that it is a flaw and it costs his team wins. Especially Argentina. So you have one of the best players ever and he cannot lead you. People many times compare him to Maradona and while Maradona was just better in most ways, one of the most prominent ways is the leadership. presence and being essential all over the field. I do agree it is unfair to Messi to be compared with Maradona though, also because he is simply Lionel Messi and thart is enough.

You should add Messi's speech before Copa America 2021 Final against Brazil. That was touching and great speech, even me if I'm in that squad I'll give everything in my power for him. Such a leader. We all just know from the outside, we don't know what happen in the dressing room. Looking at how Messi's teammate always had huge respect to him, means he is a great captain for them.

Messi is definitely an inspirational leader for his teammates and the world. He is not a born leader but he is a made one which he developed with experience and the best part of his personality, being in his selflessness, humility, devotion and care towards his teammates. He does the talking on the pitch but when it's vocal, that means shit is serious. Winning games and trophies is more important than his goals and performances, he puts his talents and skills in the service of the team more than showing off how good he is with the ball, at least as he matured with time. He made not always be the first choice leader among all the great players that exists, but he will lead others with a more important and deep reason, or if no one else is better than him, rather than for the sake of it.

He was the teacher for an entire generation of self-absorbed, Hollywood-fed people where he showed that true leadership is strong and silent and only violent and aggressive in short spurts. Many people were taught a lesson, real life isn't Hollywood. Arrogance, screaming and shouting and begging for camera attention are everything BUT leadership. Took some time, but he delivered. His entire career is a perfect example of growth and strength resulting in true, actual leadership that lasts a lifetime.
