March 2022 update: Putin forced Prokhorov to sell the NETS in 2019 due to US sanctions and as a loyalty test, according to some sources. Others say that he had grown bored with the ownership and was never in the US, so when a good offer came, he took it. Apparently he spends most of his time in France, though no word on how the current sanctions have hit him.

Prokhorov is considered to be out of favour with the Kremlin and would probably have to vacate the country and move his wealth elsewhere. The financial news group RBC which does some of the investigative journalism that is still remains in Russia on things like costs of Private Military Companies used by the Kremlin off the books or corruption and mismanagement. For that several months ago Prokhorov was forced to sell the company and editors from state media like TASS were put in charge of moderating the media's stance. The catalyst for the sale was that RBC dared report on the Panama papers and Putin's involvement in that... Friendship with the state in Russia and its Presidential Administration is a relative term. www.ft.com/content/37fd60b8-66b4-3b38-9286-4e7062c45229 How likely it is for an oligarch to survive targeting by the state, well you could read the old classic on Yukos and how Rosneft was created or you could read how the billion dollar company AFK Systema is being destroyed right now by Rosneft's CEO Igor Sechin.

@siberus48
@siberus48 6 жыл бұрын
Russian's are not famous for that in the US at all. I live in the US. What you just described is a stereotype. I don't think you should be drawing your view of Russian people in general off of stereotypes.. It just shows how typical American's are when being judgmental like that. Russian's don't fake smile or fake kindness like you're use to in America. In Europe Russian's are very well known for their sense of humor. Also in Russia its very deep in our culture as far as jokes, anecdotes especially and almost all of which are untranslatable to English given how Russian is such a complex language. We are also known for not smiling for no reason or faking kindness, that is considered EXTREMELY weird in the majority of Europe generally speaking especially in Russia. So i'd consider getting out more or actually getting to know Russian people instead of being so judgmental. Many businessmen and sportsmen have been to Russia and have made vlogs and talk about how they aren't cold or not nice they just don't fake emotions or randomly smile at you out of it being a habit or faking emotions. That they absolutely love it there. Yet when you actually talk to a Russian person they are extremely open up like a book and honest its just the fact of being genuine with them and actually trying to get to know them. Not stupid small talk and lame jokes, we don't enjoy dishonest or disingenuous behavior which most Americans indulge in. Not sitting back assuming they are cold or not having a sense of humor just because you haven't bothered to get to know them. I just hate how you fit the whole American stereotype perfectly. Arrogant, ignorant, yet proud of presenting these ideas that you haven't even bothered thinking through yet but still regardless pounding through proud being wrong. Side note: A lot of the time if someone isn't laughing at your joke it might just be that it sucks. I hear people at my jobs always making horribly lame ass jokes and i never laugh at them because they plainly suck. Seems like everyone else either fake laughs to go along with it or actually is dumb enough to still be laughing at middle school level jokes. We Russian's are just in the moment and appreciate cooperation and honesty rather than disingenuous human interaction and passive aggressive behavior that i see rampant in this country.

Olive Garden = Italian Cuisine. Fast Food = the insurge of demand coming from the influx of immigrants working in the US. Even American country music had been influenced by Irish and Celtic fiddle tunes, traditional English ballads and traditional music from Europe. Looks like the time and experience has calmed him down. Once you have everything, then you value the simple things that are more connected to own emotions.

Wow, okay, don't anger Stephen Colbert if he's holding a couple of axes. CBS, pleeeeeease let Stephen do more field pieces like this! He's got Daily Show skills to use!

I feel like I had scrubbed this completely out of my mind...and then the Almighty Algorithm™ was like "hey! remember that _reeeaaaallly_ unsettling interview you saw Colbert doing a few years ago? wouldn't it be a nice anxiety attack to see it again?" Yup.

This is what happens when you let a man go to a certain age without getting married: he builds a marshall arts dungeon painted in dr Seuss colors and eats bologna straight out of package

hunky dory Do you know what happens when a millionaire/celeb/billionaire divorces?.....Hollywood tabloids can tell you...dirty laundry and conspiracy theories galore!!! WHEN ONE ARE AS RICH AS THIS, MERE MORTAL RULES DO NOT APPLY. THEY ARE ABOVE GRAMMAR IN EVERY WAY. YOU ARE A PLEBEIAN....YOU THINK LIKE A PLEBEIAN. MARRAIGE IS AN OUTDATED CONCEPT ESPECIALLY WHEN ONE IS AS RICH AS THIS. HUMBLE YOURSELF.
