Harvey is so amazing because he also walks the walk... 1. He is a GREAT poker player which translates to him reading people, negotiating, dropping the hammer when closing. 2. He is confident because he looks good... his body, his face, his hair, his tailor-made expensive suits, his charming grin, smirk, smile etc as well as his stature when standing and walking. 3. He is a boxer and can stand nose to nose with someone during a confrontation and is scared of it escalating. 4. He is remarkably compentent at his job... great lawyer, great closer and has great confidence in his ability. 5. He keeps tabs on all the poeple he owes favors and those who owe him favors. 6. He chooses the fights that have a higher probability of him winning unless the fight comes to him and there is little or no choice. Smart. SUITS is extremely layered in regards to characters and character arcs (this was not so strong after season six or so but I still enjoyed the show until the final episode in season 9 and plan to rewatch it all on NETFLIX)

It’s important to note when watching shows like Suits that the dominance in a character like Harvey Spector isn’t so much he himself but the way the other characters and plot are written around him. In reality if you showed up to work acting like Harvey Spector you’re going to make a lot more enemies than admirers and probably get fired for either breaking the rules to win or violating some code of conduct lol

Well in the show it also states that he worked his ass off to get to a position like that. Everyone either admires or fears him, but only because they know what his genius is capable of. It still is a tv show so it still has some unrealistic aspects, but this video is about boosting your confidence and i think those techniques work fine

One thing: you can never fool people by acting confident if you’re insecure. You will end up being Louis. True confidence does not come from superiority, rather indifference to what people think of you. That’s a huge difference. Harvey acted from the position of power because he trusted himself and his abilities. Not because he stood upright and wanted to prove he knew better.

I'd like to add that the main thing for Harvey is confidence in himself. The video does highlight that he feels superior and for guys to imitate that to a small degree. I do disagree a bit with that, as true confidence comes from within, not from viewing oneself as superior to others. Knowing you have the answers is different than knowing the other guy doesn't have the answers.

I feel like one point should be added before all the others: "Give them a reason to fear or like you. One of the two, no in between." This entails you need to MASTER a skill, become the best of the best, of atleast try to be. Show up for work/your appointments and work your ass off. Results will show soon enough. But the steps mentioned can definitely improve your mindset.

While I do tend to agree with what you are saying. I feel like you have self-esteem and self-confidence mixed up. Self-esteem is about your self-image and how you feel about yourself and self-confidence is how you feel about your abilities and aptitudes. It is taught in psychology. I do not mean to be nit-picky, but too many people use these terms synonymously when there are distinct differences between the two and they should not be used like that. Thanks for understanding. Yes, I do have a degree in psychology. While other people may be pickier than me, I do feel like you have valid content. Keep practicing and getting better. @@KeesJansma7689, yes they are. I have done some more recent research since my last post and learned something new. Self esteem is a product of the media and supposed gurus of self help. In all reality. Self esteem is nothing more than controlled narcissism. Whereas Self confidence is confidence in your abilities and yourself. Yes, self image is correlated with self confidence. Without a decent self image, your self confidence will suffer. In fact through research it has been discovered that how you dress also helps determine how you feel and not just self image and past successes.

Pratham Dhamija Let’s be real. 😋Harvey’s a competent person & has high standards for himself that he lives up to & expects others around him to follow suit.. he only hires ppl who are competent, worthy & talented - Donna, Mike & even the sportscar CEO (late CEO & even going to the lengths of preventing the interim CEO from permanently taking over & replacing with another one who will maintain quality- the best engineering; early seasons). He’s willing to take high risks so Long as there’s substance, high chance of quality control & it will pay off in the Long run. He’s willing to hire Mike despite not having a law degree because of Mike’s thoroughness, potential & talent. There are plenty of confident ppl who fall through too who lacks substance. It goes hand in hand. In the later Seasons flashbacks, younger Harvey tells Donna how he’s the lawyer that he is because of the secretary she is & offers her to follow him when he goes back to Pearson Hardman. He hires the best & don’t waste time or effort on anything that undermines quality. He goes for quick settlement in cases not worth his time, $ & effort but in all others he plays to win. He believes he’s the best coz he ensures the best- strategy, outwit, outplay, ppl he has to partner up with & gain leverage on their expertise even if it means at times with Louis Litt in the earlier seasons when they are more at odds. He’s only flexible to maintain what’s best for him. But there are times that he pushes his luck to have his way & clashes with Jessica!

There is one very important mistake believing that you have to be Harvey Specter. To get real social relationships, you need to be able to be vurnerable as well. Harvey has issues with this. That's why he places himself above others, and that's why the 1st advice is wrong. You can't really always be better than anyone else, which means thay if you think that you'll just become more insecure. Learn to accept your weaker points, that is a much needed addition if you want to gain REAL self confidence.
