How to be fast at Brands Hatch on Assetto Corsa Competizione - Track Guide

Brands Hatch GP can be a tricky track at the best of times. I seem to take steep Paddock Hill Bend differently each lap, and that’s just the first corner!
Later around the lap there’s the tight Druids hairpin, juxtaposed with the highspeed Hawthorns, which has a mid-corner bump that can unsettle the car and throw you into an unforgiving barrier. Plus, there’s the old-school narrow layout and run-off areas that are either too small or a giant sand pit.
Throw into the mix a full grid of powerful and evenly matched GT3 machinery and you have the recipe for a very expensive pile of scrap metal and carbon fibre.
Which is why a track guide to maximise every last bit of weathered kerb is well worth a watch. In my opinion, that is.
Here, watch as I go through each corner, bit by bit, culminating is a quick lap time. Hopefully you can then apply these learnings to your driving and win your next ACC online league event. Below are some times to aim for:
Pro - 1:22.00
Pro-Am - 1:23.50
Am - 1:25.00
My time - 1:22.40
When it comes to other useful information about the GT-car simulator, why not read about 2020 World Challenge Pack updates, how the GT World Challenge series will use ACC to gain real-world points or confirmation that it will reach the PS5 and Xbox Series X later in 2021?
Which track would you like to see next in our track guides series? Pop your thoughts in the comments.

I feel like it was a bit of an unfair statement, with 1:23 being a "good start for online racing" and "1:25 being a good starting point if you're learning the track"? That's like pro level online racing times, you could easily get into races doing 1:26 or higher and not be last place, you just won't be racing the top guys. I'm in the same boat as you doing high 1:26's and the only reason I'm here with the struggle is because I need to do 1:26.5 for 7 laps to get into Low Fuel Motorsports. I'm about .5 seconds off and can't figure out where I'm losing time after doing a couple hundred laps.

@@Hardcaslte This video was made before the tyre update that’s scrubbed about 1-2 seconds off lap times, so you’re not a million miles off, focus on the entries into the high speed parts, that’s where I found the most time as my exit speeds from the corners was too slow, I’m doing mid 25’s atm

@@LukeMorris11 I got back into sim racing right after the 1.8 update was released, I didn't know it made that much of a difference. That's crazy! I did get down in the 1:25's though and qualified for LFM so I'm happy.

One big tips for acc in general but more specific for brands hatch is don’t OVERDRIVE, don’t always go for a qualy perfect lap, try to survive first, after some time you will star also going really fast but still in a “comfort zone”

@@thesweetteasystem1108@thesweetteasystem1108 wait what? Wow yeah you need to just practice the tracks then. You shouldn't be getting p13 on 80. Sounds like you need to just practice learn the tracks more and enjoy. Practice your braking points and remember acc is all about how fast you can come out of the corner. That doesn't mean try holding ad much speed through the corner as possible as that will reduce your launch at apex. You want to brake and get on the throttle most of the time at apex and you want to get to 100% gas as fast as possible. Just practice that it will help with your cornering. Also trail braking is huge it helps the nose of the car turn in and balance the car better while turning in/

It's tricky, and depends on a few factors. Sometimes general overheating on one tyre is unavoidable, sometimes it's just driving style, but if there are certain heat patterns from inside to outside then you can do something about it with setup changes. Check out part 1 of my setup guide, around about 5:15 for info on the heat spread - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/sJpoYNJmkrS8Yo0.html Hope this helps! :)

I just started assetto corsa competizione 2 days ago. I started brands hatch 10 days ago on GT7 and am managing under 1 min 25 sec. But in assetto im 1 min 28. For some reason the car behaves wildly different (911 gt3) in assetto. But the same line ans braking points in GT 7 make me fast in ACC. The difference is the trail braking and the amount of rotation in ACC. Gt7 is a lot more understeer and i have to fight to rotate the car. But in ACC I get so much rotation I dont know what to do with it! But one thing's for sure. Gt7 made me fast in real life but ACC made me faster. I actually know what my tires want thanks to ACC

This might be a dumb question or common knowledge, but I’m relatively new to ACC and only really played a lot of F1 and a bit of PC2 before, but; why do I always see you apply so much steering lock in your videos? I thought you were supposed to apply smooth inputs and steer as little as possible as not to scrub speed through the front tires? Again, I’m relatively new to acc so don’t mind me asking!!
@TraxionGG
@TraxionGG Ай бұрын
Not a dumb question at all! In fact, you are spot on in general. This is more of a hotlap guide, showing how fast you can get round the circuit in one lap and therefore teaching the quickest lines and therefore helping people go faster in general. However, in an attempt to wrangle the old Ferrari quickly over one lap at the time, I probably was using too much steering lock. It was an aggressive lap, in a car I hadn’t driven and in hindsight it could certainly be better! I was fighting oversteer a lot too which certainly contributes to the lack of smoothness, that combined with my driving style in certain situations. Over a longer stint, smaller and smoother inputs will often be a far better way to go, and if I was making these guides again years later on the new tyre model with updated cars, I’m sure it would be a bit different. Long story short, you are spot on! Thanks for the comment and welcome to ACC, I hope you enjoy!😊
