Bonjour! Je m’appelle John et je found it almost as hard to learn the Paul Ricard circuit as I found it to learn French in school. Built in 1969, this place has a colourful history and now has equally colourful run-off areas…. And trust me, you will be needing to use them!
In recent times, Paul Ricard has been an ideal testing facility for cars of all types with its variation. Almost every corner has a different challenging aspect that will take you a while to get the hang of, but at least you have that insane back straight to have a breather.
In this video, I attempt to teach you some of the better ways to drive around this circuit. Making this video was the first time I had ever lapped the track and I probably found it to be the most difficult on ACC to master. Hopefully, that hard work wasn’t in vein and I can help you guys find some valuable lap time over your rivals!
Here are so benchmarks for you to chase, just make sure you have some patience for this one if, like me, you are new to it:
Pro - 1:52:60
Pro-Am - 1:55:00
Am - 1:58:00
My time - 1:53:30
How do you all feel about Paul Ricard? Is it an enjoyable circuit to race on or should it stick to being a test track? Make sure you let us know your thoughts!

Very helpful video, only one thing i would like to point out is that it will be very smart to put in the accelerator and brake bars so we can see when you are crusing, accelerating and braking and how hard

Thanks for the video. This track is where I struggle the most. Other tracks are more suitable for my newbie style lol. LFM just put it instead of Laguna Seca, due to the bug, where I felt better. Barely 1.56.4 now. Need to practice a lot more....

Ok great. Helpful. Now that 1.8 is on consoles… it means I gotta relearn how to drive, plus it doesn’t save my setups any more. Nor are my old ones still here. 🤦‍♂️ It’s like what you all saw on PC… except we don’t have a saved documents folder. This game has become so frustrating. Again. Lol. Sort of.

Well, I got my time down to 2:02. But I can’t brake nearly as hard or late as you without sliding all over the place. Only had a wheel for 2 months, so this is all brand new. But I feel like I’m braking in the right place but understeer super bad and can’t turn, and if I brake a tiny bit harder I spin, and a tiny bit less and I just fly into the run off. Multiply that issue by every single corner. Any tips/thoughts besides get good?

Issue for me with PRicard is the lack of elevation change. Especially in the last sector it's so hard to see where the next corner is 😂

Thanks for the help on the track. Could you do a video on the track with a controller to show the time difference between using a wheel and a controller. Is it impossible to get the same time using a controller as you can using a wheel. Thanks.
@TraxionGG
@TraxionGG 2 жыл бұрын
I'll pass this on to the video team but having seen what people can do on controller I would say honestly that yes, with the right settings the controller can be the same pace as a wheel.

Do you soften the suspension for PR. I struggle with this track, I’m always way of the pace when i feel I’ve nailed a lap, which has to mean setup. Currently using the AMG and even finding that nervous over curbs when it usually smashes them
@maxymiliankaczmarczyk3473
@maxymiliankaczmarczyk3473 Жыл бұрын
maybe try another car, because from what I heard AMG is very sensitive to slight changes in set up and finding perfect can be annoying proces, but of course it's only my opinion based on what I heard and my experience

does not necessarily mean setup sometimes just because a lap felt good doesn't mean that the lap actually was good

As always great video. If I might make 1 suggestion it's the AM times. Most people who are newer to the game won't hit the am times you suggest. I find my self just barely beating them on some tracks and being a tad slower on others. Id say make the AM times what it takes to beat the AI. That's more realistic for a newbie. I'm doing this track now in one of the championships and am just hitting 1:58 in the Ferrari Evo. Simply because it takes so much to learn everything in this game to get the car to handle to suit each person's driving style and learning the track at the same time. Definitely using the wrong gears in few turns. A trail breaking video would be cool too if you haven't already done one.

People who are new to the game are not AM. About beating the AI, at which level? At 100%, the AI makes around 1.55.

AM isn't amatuer in the way you think. AM is amateur class, the speed the ai try to match, like real AM level drivers in le man. I'm near pro/am now, and it's getting harder to find more lap time.

Idk if it’ll help you, but this helped me: I set up a race vs. AI (100/90 rating/aggression) and just stayed on their bumper. Immediately trimmed 3s off my time & broke 2:00! On the safe setup, with 30L of fuel. And not annihilating curbs like J does in the vid. So there’s definitely more time to be had. Now, I can’t say playing “follow the leader” helped me learn the track lol… but it learned me how to break 2min in race conditions w/ all the above handicaps. Sweet. 🤘 Edit: Emil Frey Jag & idk how that compares to the R8.

Production values are nice, but explanation of each corner is somewhat cursory. Slo-mo run-through of the corners with a little more academic approach would be appreciated. Estimated lap times at end of video are somewhat exaggerated; Pro lap time is better than what the actual pros managed during qualifying in FANATEC ESPORTS GT PRO SERIES - 2021; AM time is probably out of reach of most casual ACC players, and will probably require a serious commitment from intermediate skill ACC players to achieve.
