I found this quote somewhere and put it on the cover page of my Journal: "I hope that someday, when I am gone, someone, somewhere, picks my soul up off of these pages and thinks, 'I would have loved her.'" (Came from somebody named Nicole Lyons, but I have no idea who that is.)

I just started journaling again this year - 48 years old. My mom would read my diary when I was younger and I have a fear that my privacy will be invaded again. My mindset when I write, is "what I would want my granddaughter (if I have one) to read and understand about life". A place where my grandchildren will be able to see where I was mentally, yet they know the outcome - if that makes sense. Wisdom imparted on them, how thought processes were about their parents (and even if my children read it - they too get some insight). Maybe they will also understand me better when I am no longer here to tell my story.

This is exactly me! I consider it more of a "personal essay" although I do keep a Burn Book for venting (which is always later destroyed.)

When I was a teenager I was bullied after some 'friends' read my journal. My personal journal is since written in elvish letters, that I adapted to my needs so nobody can read it but myself. There is a sheet where I wrote the code down, so when I'm dead and my kids are determined to read my journals they have to learn the code first. 😅 Thank you for this inspiring video! ❤I'm re-modeling my office/journal space, so I hope to be back on track, soon! But as you said: no pressure 😘😘😘

I loved the story about your daughter journaling. I used to do that, and, in college, was suddenly embarrassed by it. Sad to say, all those journals are gone. I am grateful to my grandmother for saving the fiction I sent to her. At least I still have that. It's horrible, of course, but shows who I was at that age. Funny to see things that are still part of my writing, and other things that are gone. My journaling now is more when something is going on in my life. That seems to work better than something scheduled. But good things have come out of it.

This is an absolutely fantastic video!!! Loved every moment. 🥰 At least so far-haven’t finished it yet, 😅 but Im prepared to be delighted through the end. 😉 When our kids were little, we did the same thing on Sunday nights: made popcorn, had cheese, lunchmeat or salami, apples or grapes, maybe some nuts, and watched a movie!!! So fun.

I've been journaling since I was about 12 years old, and when I was 13, my sister showed my diary to my first boyfriend! In it I had said something about him that bothered me, something kind of dumb and insignificant (like the way he chewed, I think). He broke up with me and then met the girl he was going to marry and the woman he is STILL married to, and that was 60 years ago! So I figure it was meant to be. I'm now in my 70's, have been married for 45 years, and am still journaling. Now it's more like memory keeping. I try to incorporate as many photos as I can, along with lots of doodling and stickers and stencils, and of course my hope is that one day my family will enjoy looking at them and reading things in my handwriting. Thank you, Robyn, for all the great tips. Really enjoy your videos.

I love to journal - I dont do it everyday and thats perfectly ok (I need to repeat that bit to myself). I have a book for each of my kids that is about them and what we have done as a family. It will be filled with their drawings and photos as well (when I get around to it). Thanks for the reminder to not put pressure on myself - I have a tendency to do that. I also like the idea of a box with them in it to be destroyed when I'm gone. I don't want to be restricted by what I write just because I think someone will read it and then I've hurt someones feelings. Always love watching your videos. Thanks Robyn.

Your “Talks from the Heart” channel is spot on today for me ❤ I have followed your channel long time and was always drawn to the humor you exude about “Life”. I have a Chic Sparrow Dr. Jones that I bought when they came out only made a few of them and I jumped at getting this cover. I have been in love with this cover and hated it at the same time many times I knew I could post and sell it! But over the years I was always drawn back to this notebook cover. Over the years my struggle is with sizes and a B6 slim is always the size I go back to! I share all of this to say that size is important too. I stopped journaling when my husband passed 2/23. Just froze in time and couldn’t think of anything to journal 😢, Today you gave me the spark needed to write ✍️ I pulled out my Dr Jones cover and set it up for writing❤🎉, Thanks for your heartfelt sharing today. 🎉❤❤

I just looooved your video! You are so spontanious, transparent and funny. Please be my friend loll, i write since i'm 7, i had received a 5 years diary, from my aunt, and just started. For like 15 years, when i had my Daughter, i just did agenda and to do lists, until i discovered Planner Perfect. Like in 2020. This brought me back to the joy i had to write. I agree so much, to never over complicate the process. I never felt or even understood that : write 3 Lines, or write 12 minutes..... This is so easier than this. You write when you feel like it. If its not everyday than be it. One Day 1 Line, and a week later 10 pages, that is not important. The more you write, the more need to write you will have. Why? Because its so liberating. I love to write. Pen and paper. I never thought that i had to think about what to write. Cause its really like thinking but in writing. Instead of inside our head, you put it on paper. That way, exactly like you said, its not in our mind (Much less in our mind) cause we transfered it on paper. sometimes i will put stickers or Doodle (every animal I try to draw looks like a sheep lol But who cares. I always have my journal near me, when i go to bed, and if i cant sleep because i think of something, i take 2 min to write it down, i know i will not forget, and my mind is free to fall asleep. That was a great video, that you did, with what mathers and what doesn't! And you gave me more ideas to journal about. Writing my life, i would need a set of 240 journal lol, thank you, dont change, you spread so much joy, we need it in our lives❤

I had to google your bowl lol. “These inexpensive bowls, manufactured from the late 1950s through most of the 1980s, were a part of the line referred to collectively as Texas Ware. The kitchens of the '50s tended to be short on cabinet space. Realizing this, PMC designed their bowls with small groves in the bottom which made them easy to stack.” I have my mom’s Pyrex bowl from the 1960’s. She got it when she married my dad and she used it my whole life to make salad in, mix up dough for bread and pies, serve mashed potatoes, etc etc. But it means the world to me. Great content! Journaling is so good for mental health, and there truly are different "kinds" of journals. I have a 5-year journal (to try and help me develop a daily practice, but I find it quite boring because there is not enough space to write anything of value,) a "personal essay" journal (Words of Wisdom and fun memories from my past, so I can haunt my children from beyond the grave after I die, since they don't listen to me now,) and a "monthly recap" that I build into my Planner (again, to help me get into a journaling habit.) I also keep a "Burn Book" (rarely used) and a notebook just to jot down journal prompts and ideas for things to write about! Great tips--I'm sure so many people will find this helpful, so thank you for sharing!

I'm a wordy gal! When I get going, it's hard for me to condense and my hand usually starts hurting before I can finish my thoughts. This led me to journaling randomly and then also using and updating several different types of journals when I felt I needed or wanted to. Hand writing can be quite addictive. Anyway, I wanted to say that this video spoke to me and you did a wonderful job! I love that you came to us naturally and spoke in your real and true self! Genuine which I appreciate and well thought out. I also wanted to add that I also keep a Bible Journal and it's one of my favorites for processing and bringing issues to the LORD, Yeshua. I've seen so much healing in my heart and soul because I take things to the Bible and then journal scripture(s), thoughts and prayers. That said, I wanted to say thank you for sharing this and may the LORD keep you and bless you! I'm gonna find a box to put my private journals in and tell my son, the one I trust most, to burn it if something ever happens to me. I love that!!! My garden, health/fitness, Bible and memory keeping they can split up between them (I have 3 cheerins or should I say "young adults")or toss those as well. Once I'm gone, it won't matter much to me.

Robin, this is a fantastic video, thank you for taking the time to make it ❤. I have been a journaler since I was young and like you, had the little lock. Over the years I’ve taken breaks, especially while my kids were young. Also like you, I am an emotional journaler and I don’t hold back. Because of that I feel the need to destroy them at a time when certain seasons of my life are done with. If I feel exhausted and down I don’t bother, I don’t have the energy but if I’m angry, upset, stressed or worried I can’t get it written down fast enough !!! Pages and pages. I will continue this but what I want to do is create a journal with great times, great memories and gratitude and love. Love the idea of journaling my life, something I can leave for my kids and future grand kids. Thanks so much for sharing 🥰
