There’s a right way to be single, a wrong way to be single, and then…there’s Alice. And Robin. Lucy. Meg. Tom. David. New York City is full of lonely hearts seeking the right match, be it a love connection, a hook-up, or something in the middle. And somewhere between the teasing texts and one-night stands, what these unmarrieds all have in common is the need to learn how to be single in a world filled with ever-evolving definitions of love. Sleeping around in the city that never sleeps was never so much fun.
“How to Be Single” stars Dakota Johnson (“Fifty Shades of Grey”), Rebel Wilson (“Pitch Perfect”), Damon Wayans, Jr. (“Let’s Be Cops”), Anders Holm (“Neighbors,” upcoming “The Intern”), Alison Brie (“Get Hard”), Nicholas Braun (“The Perks of Being a Wallflower”), Jake Lacy (HBO’s “Girls”), with Jason Mantzoukas (“Neighbors,” TV’s “The League”) and Leslie Mann (“This is 40,”).

I think it's a good movie. We are preoccupied looking for the right person so we ignore our other needs, the need to reach for our dreams, the need to achieve what we promised ourselves a long time ago, the need to walk alone... Only then, we can recognize who we are, and whom we need in our life. It's is not about wild parties and sex - these things are part of everyone's youth. It's about how happiness is not something that someone else can bring us, but something that we have to find... allone.

It is not a good movie. Actually what this movie wants us to feel is that everyone who is single is miserable because he or she doesn't know any better. 90 percent of the film is her desperately trying to find a man and then in the end she kinda accepts the fact that it could wait. It is insulting and the movie should be called How To Avoid Being Single.

Maybe, but if this was starring a generic, unfunny, but typically attractive Hollywood star, I doubt it would receive as much hate. I'm not saying this is worthy of praise, but it seems to get too much negative attention. Like Islamic extremism. Cue crazy backlash from bad analogy.

Our whole lives we are trained by society that happiness comes with a Prince Charming in a white horse. We are taught that being single is lame. That's why it's so hard to change the mind set to what's really true. Being single is not about partying, getting drunk and meeting random people. It's more than that and it's not bad. It's pretty good actually. Being single is about being comfortable with yourself and happy alone. This movie talks about it and I highly recommend it!

+Azul Clement You could be yet another of member of the mindless masses who rely solely on popular culture and social media to validate themselves as they are told what to think, how to dress and how to behave in society in general. How else do you think the likes of MTV, Twitter, Facebook, KZfaq, etc have thrived? People are gullible, naive and pretty stupid for the most part, and hardly ever present their true selves to the general public. P.S. If you wear Nike's (or any other brand's) logo all over your clothes/shoes/handbag/cellphone, you're not 'being yourself'; you're merely a billboard for that brand. And they are laughing all the way to and from the bank-

Nisha Omar Not to be mean, but please note, this is a movie. Movies are not reality. They can't teach you anything. That's not why they're there. If you want to be single, just don't be stupid by sleeping around and either get attached to some idiot, pregnant, or some new, disgusting disease. Guys always like what they can't have. Ask your brothers, they'll tell you.
@nishaomar3588
@nishaomar3588 7 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the opinion. But, LOL. You don't get my point, don't you? Of course I am not going to sleeping aroud with random guy and get pregnant. But, I was inspired with the quote at the end of this movie, and the love story is about the same with mine (but without sleeping around with random guy). Maybe you should rewatch the movie (Actually I think you are not watching the movie yet. HAHA). There's a positive output in this negative social life movie. Who wants to be drunk every night? It's not healthy anyways. :)

Probably because of it's well-written dialogues and also how brilliant this movie showcases the lives of the characters in the movie and how it intertwines with each other including the main character Alice. This movie ending is so perfect and deep. It shows how Alice was at first confuse with her status and trying to figure out what she wants in her life. I truly recommended this movie to anyone who wants some witty-comedy entertainment.

okey jaja its not so surprise, but at least she accept that, learn the lesson and moving on. Its still a good ending. Maybe for someone its a little surprise because in almost all romantic comedys the main character end up with a couple and that's the people usually expect, but in the history they say that the movie its not about being in a relationship, its about the parts in the middle when you are single, actually they never show much how are his relationship with the 3 guys, just show the first and the final moments and try to focus in the moments when she is single again

This is my favorite movie thus far this year and probably in the last 5 years of watching movies. It just hits me in the feels so much because I can relate so much. I am a guy but this movie did it for me. Great acting, directing, and it felt so real. Love this movie so much.

Super funny and the message behind it was really great. Rebel Wilson is fucking hilarious as usual and Dakota Johnson was surprisingly funny as well.
