If you know flat right angle weave or CRAW, this structure will be easy for you. Make artful beaded necklaces, bracelets and earrings. Beads that work best include metal 11/0, metal 8/0, Czech Fire Polish or druks, Japanese 11/0 or 8/0 and more. Make sure your beads are evenly shaped with ample holes.
There are no print instructions for this technique - only videos. Questions? Just send me a note.
Links to items mentioned in the video coming soon.
Right angle weave is a beading technique found in cultures around the world. We don't know where it was invented but it's probably many centuries old. The earliest recorded example dates to the Chinese Ming dynasty (1368-1644). It's a small, rectangular piece inscribed with 7 Chinese characters - the only piece of its kind in the world. To learn more about this piece and see what it looks like, click on the link below, which takes you to my page on academia.edu:
"Mainland Chinese Export Beadwork." The piece is shown in on pages 60-61:

Thank you, @montagnedesjoyaux (a beautiful user name!) - I'm glad you like my work. I think you were asking about pricing the zig zag necklaces and it really depends on the bead materials and length. Also if I use one of the sterling magnets clasps that I make myself - I have to take that into account.

@@valeriehector ah, yes, I removed the price question after I found your store, which, of course, answered my question :) Thank you for these wonderful videos

I seem to remember using some thread called Bellinni or something like that. In the late 60's early 70's. Italian beading thread. I was just a kid when I started.

Thank you, @belindaeileen - I will do a Google search for Bellinni Italian thread. Maybe it's still on the market?

Hi Valerie. I found some metal seed beads in some gorgeous colors. I noticed you showed a size 11 in a fushia color. The bead shop is on Etsy and they have sizes 6,8, 11, and 15. The name of the shop is Bead Parlor. Interesting piece, I would like to give it a try.

Hi Valerie, could you advise the approximate count per inch for 11/0, 8/0, 6/0 and 3mm & 4mm fire polished beads

Hi, @sheronsee - That's a very good question! I can't provide all of those bead counts but I can provide the approximate bead counts for 3mm and 4mm Fire Polish beads. These bead counts will vary according to how tightly you stitch your Zig Zag Rope Necklace. So the counts below are only approximate. For all the other bead sizes you mentioned, maybe you could make sample 1" lengths of them when you have time? For 1" of Zig Zag Rope in 3mm Fire Polish beads you need approximately 64-72 beads by my count, depending upon how tightly or loosely you stitch. For 1" of Zig Zag Rope in 4mm Fire Polish beads you need approximately 52-60 beads by my count, depending upon how tightly or loosely you stitch. Happy beading - and thanks for stopping by!
