Jigsaws motives still contradict themselves, he says he only puts those who are people that are not living their lives to the best of their abilities whether it be due to crime, drugs, violence, etc. But then sets up traps that cripple, and even kill law enforcement agents that are simply doing their jobs to find a bad man.

He does seem to have selective blindness to who are real people and who are not. He is willing to put bystanders in danger for the sake of specific game participants. Only those being 'tested' have a genuine chance of surviving. For example: Dr Lawrence was being tested, Adam was just a part of that test. Zed was both being tested and part of the test. Dr. Lawrence's wife and child were just part of the test [although the mother passed a test of doing 'what needs to be done' to survive]. Amanda's trap also had a 'non player'. They could have survived if Amanda sacrificed herself or wasn't willing to go through with it, but that person had zero way to 'play' the game. In this film, the entire house test was for the ones other than Amanda and the son. They could have gotten antidotes. [1 in the safe, 2 in the furnace, 1 in the pit room, 1 with the box] There may have been a sixth one that we didn't see. It's also possible that they were all there solely for Eric's game. The nerve agent was likely a bluff and the 6 were actually poisoned. [or Amanda and Eric's son had the antidote already, but that seems weird]. So it's possible the antidotes were also fake, and the intent was just to have people die for 2 hours to look like a real game was taking place. Jigsaw ultimately is willing to be fair and give someone a chance, if they are a participant, but other people are doomed and expendible if they are not participants. They may be saveable or spareable, but it is up to the participants to 'win' in order to save other people. It does very much undermine the whole 'he doesn't murder people, he makes people kill themselves' thing. In fact, after the razorwire trap and the burn victim, he seems to have moved to making people kill to survive [Amanda and Dr. Lawrence] and even ups the stakes by putting additional people in danger. In the first film, the police are merely collatoral damage as he tries to avoid capture. After that, Eric is being punished for how he did his job. Again, it comes down to participants and non participants. Officers on the Swat team, the officers in the first film, etc ... are collatoral damage that are punished for interfering in his games. Dr Lawrence's family, and the guy passed out for Amanda's trap are just props in the game. Only the people being tested 'matter' and are given a fair shot to control their own destiny.

@EmmaForman28
@EmmaForman28 3 жыл бұрын
To be fair, panic can really cloud judgment. And sometimes people do have deductive reasoning, like Strahm in 6 giving himself an impromptu tracheotomy. And Hoffman in 3D stopping the reverse bear trap.
@Aherea
@Aherea 3 жыл бұрын
@@EmmaForman28 Yeah, there are some exceptions to the rule. But even still, I feel like if some of the people (especially the authorities) in the earlier movies had been even a *little* quicker on the uptake, the whole rest of the series wouldn't have even happened. The Jigsaw killer really likes relying on incredibly unlikely outcomes for his impossibly improbable scenarios. It makes for a fun movie, but my suspension of disbelief can only stretch so far.

I woudl be intersted to see you in an Escape room... But not one where you KNOW you are going to be out in an esacpe room... You have to think, They are all Kidnapped... They are NOT doing this of their own free will... Its different to me or you VOLUNTEERING to do an Escape Room for Fun... Caught on the hop and with a limited time, Without choice... Would you be thinking Logically? There is a great way of testing it... You need 9-18 Players, Chairs and Some Numbers written that correspond to each chair... Each player is given a Random Number... The Chairs are arranged so they form Seat on a plane, So an Asile down the middle. The game - Simple! 10 Minuites they have to get to their numbered seat... The Catch, They can only move up or down the Asile and can only switch with the person DIRECTLY NEXT TO THEM Otherwise!!! We got given this as a "Game" with the UK New Deal (Job Support) Programme... And we had some VERY SMART PEOPLE! One of them had literally just left University and had a Masters Degree!!! Yet NO ONE worked out what I worked out... ...ITS IMPOSSIBLE! It cannot be done! I only figured it out as I realised that its JUST A GAME... Everyone else appraoched it like a TEST! They wanted to WIN... Same in Jigsaws Traps... They want to to LIVE, The time to THINK goes out of the window when your LIFE is the PRIZE!

@@Phoenix2312 Two points I'd like to make. Number one; Don't use so many capital letters if you want people to actually care about what you have to say online. It makes you seem either very naive or very old. Second, I never said I would personally do well in these situations. I only asserted that these situations would never even have happened if the victims involved had acted like actual people instead of braindead cannon-fodder for the sake of the movie. There are many situations in the earlier movies where the victims of Jigsaw are either under no time constraints, or are not personally invested in the goings-on of the traps. Yet no one ever thinks the situation through like an actual person in a survival situation would. The movies are entertaining, sure, but they do not accurately represent how people would react to the situations presented.

The fact that Jigsaw said, “Your son is in a safe place” and “all you have to do is talk to me” is crazy with how it connects to the son waking up in the safe. If Eric would have listened to what he said and talked to him, they’d be fine. It shows Eric’s ignorance. But he gets a pass bec I’d act the same way if that was my son. Not to mention, I don’t think there’s ever been a time when Jigsaw lied. The only time traps were unbeatable Is when his minions made the traps unbeatable. Having had cateracts surgery and had an air bubble in my eye. You know, clear air... that had caused a damnedn ear splitting headach along with pain around my eye? That’s setting aside the fact that an average key will _not_ fit inside someone’s eyeball. Even SAW 2: Flesh And Blood, as awful of a game as that was, changed it so the key was under the guy’s eye rather than inside it, so it made a bit more sense.

I really like the point you made about covering the cameras if they chose to break down a wall. It's a well known and effective prison tactic to commit to their antics out of the view of the cameras to prevent the guards from confiscating anything or stopping a fight. Only argument I have against this is if they chose to cover the cameras up, Jigsaw might just release the gas anyway since he can't see them.

Eh, for some of them sure, but for others idk. I watched the whole series recently and I'd say 75% of the time people just follow their impulses and don't even try to assess the situation. The only guy who takes his time to try to figure out traps is the one person who shouldn't. Which is Jeff. People are getting frozen to death and having their limbs twisted to bits and he spends 3 hours jerking off, watching SpongeBob, and yelling at himself in the mirror.

The thing is, it's hard to truly say that we'd all take our time and calmly evaluate our options in a situation like this. It's easy to assume that we'd handle it better, but that's because we're in our comfy rooms watching things happen on a screen. If you woke up in a shithole with basically an iron maiden on your head and some random puppet telling you that you've got sixty seconds to cut your eye out or you're dead, you might be a bit prone to panicking. Unless you're a highly-trained Navy SEAL or something, chances are you've never experienced a situation even remotely as stressful as being in a Jigsaw trap, nor have you ever truly prepared yourself for a situation like that. The house in this movie might be a bit different, as they have much more time to think than just sixty seconds, but most of his other traps (especially the ones where you're alone and extremely time-limited,) most of us are just fucked no matter how much we'd like to think that we'd do things better.

Another possible solution to the first trap would be to break the mirror to get glass shards and use that to cut the string attached to the trigger, cut the string and the trigger stays in the timer, and you can just leave the thing on till you're found or once you can move freely, get the surgical knife and cut it off via the leather straps.

If you haven't seen the Japanese movie "Battle Royal," id give it a watch and see how you'd survive it. The plot is about 39 or something kids who get are kidnapped and placed on an island where they have to kill each other, and the last one alive get's to leave the island. The island is filled with many landmarks and weapons; it turns into a blood bath worse than "The Belko experiment."
