I've been doing sicilian for around 2 yrs now and kind of had a decent understanding of how to respond to most of white. But this one, I had no idea and was losing. Very excited to see this video. Counterattacking the king's pain with the knight, then make the dragon. I hadn't even thought of that!! thanks.

I can't fucking believe I'm six days late to this upload. I spent half an hour learning theory for this opening last night and now I'm furious - i could have learned virtually everything I did in only 3 MINUTES!!! Now I just need to keep shuffling pieces around until Ben makes the 1.c4 video

I've played against the dragon a bit, never tried it myself. Why? Because it's so clearly set up for a queenside attack, I always look at it and am like "Nope, definitely not castling Queenside".

I think the Alekhine's Defence is just as effective against 1. e4 as the sicilian.
@GasolineLicker
@GasolineLicker Жыл бұрын
The Alekhine’s gives white a huge center, allows your knight to be kicked around, and turns your plan to quietly chipping his center while you neglect your own plans, allowing white to build huge advantages. The Sicilian creates imbalances for both sides, allowing for diverse gameplans. The Sicilian doesn’t base itself off of defending itself from the opponent’s advantages- it focuses on creating its own advantages to counterattack. Aside from that the Sicilian’s also super solid- mixing unbreakable solidity with unstoppable dynamics. The Alekhine’s does none of that.
