A lot of the tutorials say that if you're getting more of a zipper sound that you need to loosen your lips more but don't really explain how. In your opinion, how do you loosen your lips while trying to learn this sound. I get that you shouldn't 'pout' and just let them be, but I think this is one of the hardest obstacles to overcome. Great complementary video tutorial by the way - props!

Edit- 3 weeks ago I didn't knew how to do liproll and from 1.5 years I was doing the wrong thing i.e. forcing the lip to roll, I watched tutorials and copied exact same things and for one week I just did that kissing thing from side and on those remaining 2 weeks I started getting oscillations which were almost negligible and lost my hope learning liproll, but anyways still trying and one day I did the kissing sound and got liproll which was really weak (still weak but improving).

YES. after half a year and learning all the other basics like inward K and tkk's, I've finally achieve this sound. It's inconsistent but I realized you need to use a bit of your tongue to create that high oscillation sound.

I’ve always loved beatbox and have used basic drum kits just to mess around. Saw some videos of D-low and Napom randomly and saw this new technique like a week ago and I was determined to learn this. So I’ve been literally practicing this like all day for a week, even at work and I’ve finally figured out what is going on in the mouth to make the dope sound. Just wanna thank you for this tutorial that was one of the few that helped me the most. Heard this takes months to learn.. I learned in a week!!

Bratwurstboy 69 yes it will. It started sounding like a fart and it then transformed into an „inward-kick“ (Kenozen uses it very much). And this inward-kick transformed into the liproll. Mine is still not 100% percent clean but still a decent liproll. (See Kenozens inward-kick in this video: Seven to smoke, Napom vs Kenozen)

This might help you guys, if you do a zipper you drop you're jaw down as well. When you do the zipper position hold ure jaw in the position just before you do the zipper sound. That should help you're jaw placement.

Tipp: Put your finger on your top left (depends on which side doing lip roll) lip (just below nose). Then push finger down , do the lip position and try the lip roll. Worked for me. It's the same thing that Alexinho did when he copied Napom

@@TylaDubya I've been trying this for a very long time and I've watched plenty of videos. So if you could please answer these questions I would be so so happy and closer to getting the sound. What are you doing to make your bottom lip the one to be dragged in? My top lip is the one naturally dragged in. When my mouth is closed my top teeth sit in front of my bottom teeth. (Overbite) would that somehow be why, and how could I fix that? I've tried blocking my top lip and extending my bottom lip to where my teeth aren't behind the lip but that doesn't help at all and the sounds made still come from the top lip. I might try the reverse instead. Idk

That doesn't make sense just be sure that your lips are wet to roll and move your lips on other side as possible, that's why water are important for beatboxers

Noone in the beatboxing community will be able to tell you anything that will be helpful in terms of transitioning from the months/years worth of fart sounds you will be making to making the liproll sound, other than 'pRaCtIcE'. Its the most redundant thing ive ever come across in any possible pasttime. Youll just keep on perfecting that fart sound

I got the vibrations but the sound wont stick long. The sound didnt even last 1s. And sounded a little bit tight

for all those who are just learning the sound just keep up the work and keep trying to do the lip roll and you'll get it for sure,took me some time too

After letting the thought of not using air, only pressure, resonate in my mind for a bit, it actually started to make sense and I've seen big improvements just over the last few days! After watching Himo's shout out I am inspired to learn the lip roll on both sides (might as well since I'm at the beginning anyway.) Thanks for this tutorial!
