with how short barber school is and how they continue to lower the standards more and more i highly recommend cutting hair for a bit before going to school….hate to say it but bossio right if you just go to school for 6-12 months and the only experience you got under your belt before getting into a shop is barber school then no offense but if you think you gonna have bars it’s just not realistic trust me….take it from me i cut hair for 2 1/2 years before going to school and then did 7 months at barber school at urban barber and man thank god i decided to get ahead of the game for over two years because if i didn’t man i’d be screwed….because of that experience it allowed me to land a good deal with the highest rated shop in San Francisco for $80 a cut and by no means am i the best barber in the world..but i definitely wouldn’t have this opportunity right out of school had i not been cuttings for years previously

Thank you for this. Ive been cutting my own hair pretty well for a few years. I know i need school but this is supremely helpful. My goal is to open a shop of my own. I want to give coupons to family services, shelters, and the VA so that people who cant afford it can come get a free cut. I feel like God is calling me to help my community and since i got diagnosed with a degenerative spine disease, i cant do it through carpentry anymore.
