I started by watching KZfaq and live streams, read some forum posts, then one day came across some glass rods at a garage sale, got like 50 rods for 5 bucks. To my surprise they were soft glass and capable of melting with my butane powered dabbing torch. I have basic tools now, a hothead torch but no proper ventilation or kiln so I'm on a temporary break from it, may apprentice but like you said I wanted my own setup. I sold my unannealed soft glass dabbers for a short while, but stopped myself before I dug my own grave, selling low quality work. But tbh never had one break in use, only when dropped

You are awesome for sharing your information. Thank you. I think I need to pursue this as you have mentioned. Now to find someone close that I can go to. I am very artistic and mechanically inclined. Background in fabrication, welding and graphic arts. I think this is a good fit for me. I have a ton of space for my own studio. I am at a turning point in my life where something good and new needs to happen. Cancer almost took my life. Now it is time to experience it with new eyes.

I want to know more about his story, how he thought of his designs and functions of his designs. I think that is legitimately the most interesting thing to learn how people think and create their ideas. And He seems like one of the coolest and most humble guy on the KZfaq platform.

I would look on Craigslist in your area. Many people have used kilns that they are no longer using for sale. It also really depends on your budget. Also, watch this video for more info on kilns kzfaq.info/get/bejne/kLKDZtCam7S6fH0.html

I really want to become a glass blower. I’ve been watching your videos and others for about two weeks and I would like to start my own business. I’m a stay at home dad right now, but have really studied your videos. I have the artistic drive and the work ethic and need to expand. I don’t have the money for my equipment. Interested in your rig but it doesn’t come with the air tube to blow into. I want to have something to give to my daughter but there aren’t any studios in Raleigh, N.C. in some way some how I would like to apprentice with you guys. Please drop me a line if you’re not too busy but I believe that this isn’t just going to be a hobby. I want to name the business after my daughter and the future is all I can think of I’m tired of these dead end jobs that don’t respect me or my skills I have bestowed in me. It’s in me to create and would love to expand my horizons so I can give my family what they desire. My name is Seldon J Vesen aka Wolf and would definetely appreciate the help. Trying to set up a go fund me page for my equipment.🐺

Borosilicate work is just as artistic and complex as soft glass. In fact, the qualities of borosilicate lends itself well to incredibly complex work done by a single artist. We don’t appreciate this superfluous gatekeeping and wish you best in life.
