His advice here is spot on. Certain people try to meal prep recipes that are a no go for storage, then their experience is soured. Or they relate the thought of meal prep to thought of eating leftovers all the time, rather than eating meals that were specifically designed for storage and nutrition.

I second this. Started with the snack city double chocolate bars. Absolutely floored my expectations. If healthy tastes delicious (except that nasty veggie shake) then it's something I look forward to. There's also that long line aspect to those office lunch places. Factor in that time and meal prep is looking better and better.

I've done meal prepping for years. Everything here is spot on. For meals involving rice, I don't package them like you do. Instead I put the protein and veggies on the bottom of the container, then spread the rice on top. It helps when reheating to not just have a block of condensed rice. Also when reheating the rice, I will place a damp paper towel (soak a paper towel then wring out the excess water) on top of the rice. It will revive the rice to like-new 100% of the time! Total game changer for me!

If you absolutely hate having the same thing everyday you could make a meal with a carb you like, veggies you like, and a protein you like with basic salt and pepper. Then use different sauces or toppings to change the meal. Like Chicken and rice would easily be bbq chicken, spicy chicken, honey mustard, etc.

Also a way to freeze your food, is to vacuum seal it in a bag. Especially soups work perfect. Once the bag is sealed, lay it flat into your freezer and then you get a frozen plate. I store my soups in the freezer this way, like in a record shelf. So when people come over you just pull out a pumpkin soup like a DJ

Dude you're a lifesaver. I've been trying to change my eating habits and exercising for the last ten years and always ended up back in the obese range. This year I just decided to do ONE THING (lose weight) and STICK TO IT until I reached my goal (110 lbs). I've always known about you and your website but decided to bite the bullet and purchase a monthly sub to get your recipes. It's been three weeks (started with Buffalo Chicken bowl one week. Last week was Beef Stew. This week is your Hamburger helper) and I lost 10 lbs. I did practice fasting this week (Mon-Wed) so that contributed to the weight loss but I started seeing real results, and I'm finally sticking to it! It's great!

Great video. I started meal preping and working out with a trainer in late June of this year. Meal prep in early September was stating to get "boring" but then all of a sudden started seeing youtube videos of people like Josh meal prepping giving me some great ideas and product codes/links for meal prep containers. I'd say now with confidence that future meal preps will be more rich in flavour and have more variety. Super excited.

For rice, and for microwaving meals in general, I've found it heats more evenly and comes out less dry if you put a damp paper towel over the whole thing then microwave it for about 2-3 minutes (depending on the depth of your container, I used 3.5 cup rubbermaid plastic containers, about 2 an half inches deep) Just take a square of the paper towel, wet it, squeezed it to get most of the water out, then cover the top and nuke it for 2-3 minutes, rice comes out great, and I think the water and towel layer helps keep moister in the rest of it.

Loving this channel so far and I am excited to try some of your recipes I also have a recommendation for meal prepping salads ☺️ When storing salads in the fridge I always recommend using paper towels. But the mistake that most people make is putting the paper towels down into your meal prep container before your lettuce. Using paper towels for meal prepping salads has been a game changer for me !! It is best to put your paper towels on top of your salads not underneath!! For example, first put your lettuce in your meal prep bowl and add your veggies as you normally would .With this hack you're able to use a wider range of wet vegetables, like tomatoes an cucumber. After you put your toppings on your lettuce fold a paper towel and lay it on top of your salad then put your container lid on, and store your salad upside down. So that when the water from your vegetables sweat it is not draining downwards causing your lettuce to wilt but directly onto your paper towel. Simply remove paper towel when ready to eat and you are left with a nice crispy salad to enjoy. You can make up to three to four days worth of salads by doing this . I hope you all try it ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

I try to never use plastic containers and definitely never reheat using them so I've had a lot of glass containers over the years.. they are not cheap by any means but by far the best I've used is OXO brand. You can go straight from the freezer to oven or microwave n not worry about cracking. I've dropped them n not broke them, they are super thick. The container is also flat where the seal sits so it seals tight. I've never had one leak anything, ever. You can also remove the seal to clean under them.

Josh is the best! By far the most thorough, easy to understand and follow. I’ve watched so many channels and he exceeds all the others. Keep up the good work!

I freeze a lot of my meals and cook in really big batches. So I've got stacks off different meals so I have a decent amount of variety. So for anybody that needs to mix it up, I recommend cooking 2 meals per week and spreading them out over the month. Hope that helps!

Once tried this and ended up with my meals being excessively wet and nasty. I go to school early in the morning and eat my meal at lunchtime. How do I prevent that?

@@whippedforagroupcalleddrea5169 I tend to undercook meals I'll be freezing. Also letting them fully cool before putting the lids on and freezing them helps a little bit. But at the end of the day you'll have to decide if you want semi-soggy variety or the same thing all week.

I also do this! I try to have a choice of four, even five, individually stored ‘ready meals’ in the freezer at all times. I do eat things not from the freezer too, but I love having a ten minute nutritious, home made meal in the freezer for when I don’t have loads of time. @@whippedforagroupcalleddrea5169 If intended for the freezer, cook foods that are meant to be ‘wet’. So think saucy pasta bakes, soups, bolognese sauces (either with the pasta, or cook the pasta on the day), even things like frittata are great when slightly moist (hate that word, but couldn’t think of a better one, sorry! 😂).

The biggest benefit to meal prep is the healthy lifestyle that comes with the planned cooking. You got me into it with your frozen mini tacos video. Meal prepping is a rabbit hole. Thanks Josh!

pro rice tip. When reheating in the microwave, put an ice cube on top of the rice. You'd think the ice cube wouldn't last in the process, but I promise by the time your food is done reheating, the ice cube is still there :D

Thank you so much for this video! My boyfriend started body building and he asked me to help him with meal prep since I am the cook in the house. To be honest I have been winging it and there was so much I just learned I was doing wrong. This really really helped me. Again thank you!!!
