I've been working as a seasonal worker at a state park this year, I honestly love it. And it's been so good for me mentally, I struggle with depression and anxiety, and the one thing that has always helped me is nature. Being out in it has been amazing, and I've really enjoyed the working at the park. I'm thinking this is what I want to do, so I'm looking into becoming a ranger.

Hello Stanktatious, that AS degree would be a great building block for your foundation as a ranger. However, most employers would like to see/require the 4 year BS degree. Many of our seasonal staff start off with that degree and then transition to the BS. Research who you would like to be employed by and learn what their requirements are. Call a ranger from that agency/dept to learn about the details. Most employers will send you to and also pay for the LE Academy once you are hired.

Drums, there are no PT Test for TN State Parks for the ranger position. However, rangers are required to complete a basic obstacle course at the 12 week basic police academy (TLETA) located in Nashville. Other parks/states may require a specific test. You will need to check with your state of preference.

Marcus, rangers get to help people and serve them. They protect people from people and also protect nature from people. Rangers serve as first responders, medics, law enforcement agents, grounds maintenance, teachers/educators. They work outside in various conditions with various people groups. A ranger's motive should be wanting to benefit a park in the above capacity. Hope this helps.
