I think this is the exact moment in history when the word 'quant' has become popularized and stopped meaning what it used to mean. 'Geek' and 'nerd' went through this. I'm not taking anything from this panel, thanks for the discussion. I just wasn't ready for the idea of choosing a study path of going through a whole PhD to become a quant. For me quant = math+finance+obsession+coffee.

Ironically the former path you described is the more traditional route of becoming a quant, while the 'popularization' (whatever that even means) of the term has led people to without post-grad educations to attempt to break into the field.

@@rosh6211you don’t do ms in quant, MS in mathematics, financial mathematics, financial engineering, physics, computer science are usually what gets you the quant jobs, and I mean 99.9% of the time when I say usually

@@minymaker yeah i thought about it so Now i am doing bsc Economics with data science And it has alot of advance mathematics, advance econometrics and data science subjects + i am planning on doing quant certification too

This seems to make sense, but is not true for everyone. For example, my son quickly gets sick of pizza and wants chicken nuggets, but I simply want more and more pizza and never get sick of it. Sometimes the more I eat the even MORE I crave more of it.
